Default New 2010 tC owner - headlights dont turn off automatically

hey guys just picked up my 5 speed super white 2010 tC today. I love it and everything, but my headlights dont turn off automatically? Why is this? The manual and other people on the forum say theirs do. I tried to understand the instructions but I got pretty confused.

"with the drivers door opened, turn the ignition on or once turn the headlight switch off and then on, the lights will turn of. In this case, the automatic light cut off system will not function, so the lights will remain on. Turn off the lights if they are not needed."

So how do I turn the system back on?

get in car, turn on car, turn on headlights, turn off car and remove key, open door and the lights should go off.

Dj said it. If you mess with them after turning the car off, they will stay at where you put them until you turn the car back on then off and then open the door.

Same thing. Make sure you turn off the car before you open the door.

you can't turn the system off.. it operates as mentioned.
doing anything else will override it.
