Default NST Recall???

Hey guys, so I just got my NST Crank Pulley in and installed it and everything is fine. Well I get a suspicious voicemail left on my cell phone at !0:30 ET last night that said roughly this, "Hey Shane, this is Matt from NST. I just wanted to let you know about our urgent recall on the crank case pulley you recently purchased from us. It is due to belt wear, catostrophic failure, bla bla bla.. I need you to un-install this and send it back... Anyways the number is this (212)541- 5844 , when I called it back it says it wasn't in service and it's a New York number.. It sounds really fake to me like it's another competitor or something using a voice changer as well, but how did they get my info?? Kinda scares me. Anyone else have this done to them? Thanks Guys!!

I wonder if its due to belt wear because they never knew the correct belt size to use with the ____in thing anyway...as evident https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...&postcount=170

*there isn't a recall. Just some idiot with a computer trying to eff up NST's business is what I think, but again there isn't a recall.

Lester,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I certainly do appreciate it.

We do not, nor have we ever had, anyone working at NST with the name Matt. The one and only phone number we have ever had for NST has always been the same Houston number, 281-917-0221. We have been based out of Houston, TX since 2005.

While we are on this topic, I'm glad to hear that your installation went well and that you are happy with your NST pulley. Our first Scion pulley was released back in 2005 and the design on this pulley has not changed. Our customers who are using this pulley have posted in numerous threads and have been very happy with their performance and quality.

The comprehensive NST thread currently has about 300 replies...
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=154930

Another popular pulley thread on SL has over 900 replies...
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-tc-1g-drivetrain-power-1637/pulley-owners-stand-up-update-61222/

The two threads linked here are full of positive reviews from real world customers who have used our products over the past five years. No cases of failure, accessory problems, or any other problems when using NST pulleys. NST pulleys have been the most popular options available on SL, and for good reason.

There is NO recall on this or any of our Scion pulleys.

We do not take such cases lightly and will definitely be looking into this matter. Until then, I would appreciate it if everyone would refrain from speculation on this topic.

Thanks again, good luck and have fun with all your projects.

There has only been one case of failure, that I'm aware of, that I believe was attributed to improper installation, however, there are numerous complaints from those who purchased the full pulley kit and improper belt sizes, although I think NST has correctly updated the information regarding belt sizes on their site and notified their distributors.
