Default Problems putting windows up / down after tint

I added window tint to my tC last weekend and as many of you know the installer said to leave your windows up for a couple of days. Well, has anyone had problems with putting your windows down or up after the tint drying time?? I put my windows down this evening for the first time since it was done, and Ihad to pull over into a local parking lot in order to get the windows back up. What had happened was that the rubber / felt window molding rolled down with the window and then it got the window stuck on the way back up. With the "pinch protection" factor on the windows, they would not come up. I got most of the rubber unrolled without harm to my tint, but there is still more.

What I want to know is if anyone else has had this problem, or if you have anysuggestions on remedying this problem.

I always spray my windows at the bottom before rolling them down after a tint job with a can of the aresol window cleaner that is amonia free, you can buy it at autozone. It makes sure that you don't have any problems rolling them down.

No problems, although I actually waited 4 days before I rolled them down.

i had my dealer install tints on my tC, and they left razor scratches all around the outside of the window and even in certain places in the middle of the window.

did they leave scratches on your windows? they are so bad i can feel them with my fingernail.

i haven't put the windows down yet it's only been a couple days. i think i'll keep them up for one more day just to be on the safe side. i'm going to have to take it back.

Default Tint problem

The secret is to wash the windows before rolling them down for the first time after tinting. If you do this they won't stick.

Hi Dahamma,
Yes, the same thing happened to me when I got my windows tinted. I called the tint place and they had me bring the car back in so they could fix it. The guy explained to me that they "tuck" the seals when they tint the windows so that the tint lays flat. The seals usually go back to the normal position by themselves when the windows are rolled up and then down. For some reason, one of my seals got stuck halfway and the other one was stuck in the tucked position. He used his special tools to get the rubber back in the correct position and the windows have been working fine. Hope this helps. -Jayme

Even just spraying a little water will help, I left my windows up for about a week no problems. The hardest part was not using the rear windo defroster for five days!

if the trouble your talking about is a screaching noise when it goes up or down. it has to do with the tc having double glass stripping. the first one you can see and the other is located inside below the first strip. that 2nd strip needs to be tucked up by the installer or you'll get that noise all the time.

we've installed over a dozen window tints on our tC and the first couple of them had the same problem. after the installer figured out what it was every tC we did never had the problem again.

Default Thanx to all

I had to take the car backto the installer tonight and they fixed it with no questions asked. The problem was that the second weather strip was tucked under. They had to remove the door panel in order to get the rubber seal to untuck. The tint got scuffeded up by the rubber and they used a product called Solar Majik Silicone Cleaner to clean the scuff marks off. The windows work great now and look fantastic. It is amazing on how dark they actually look, but I guess I should expect that with 13%. Thank you to all that helped me with my tiniting problem.

On a different note I used the Mr. Clean Auto Wash system tonight on my car, it seemed to work good, however, I had to go over it twice....I started to see some spots so i rinsed and used the ioner again. I do not think it work to well on windows that have Rain-X on them. I am hoping the Mr. Clean system worked, I will see tomorrow. I washed three vehicles tonight in under an hour.

Can the dealer fix it or should I go back to the tint palce? Will the dealer fix it even if the tint is illegal?

Tampa tC:

I had the tint installer fix the problem. They had no problems of putting it on even if illegal and they do warn you prior to applying it. It looks grat all blacked out. As soon as I can I will try to post a pic on mine. Later.

you have to go to the installer not the dealer.

our guy didn't remove the door panel to fix the 2nd strip. he was able to do it by using a special tool.

can this tint problem be chalked up to the tinter not washing the window down enough? so whenever you get tint, make sure to wash ur windows before you roll them down...?

Yeah my tC is blacked out, but my dealer refused to do it, I had to get it done at a tint and security place.
