Programming The Sunroof
im not sure on this but...
i read on here that the reason was it doesnt go all the way is because of a safefy issue of some sort. like it would be more likely to break at high speeds if you had it all the way open. and it stops like 2 inches before it opens ALL THE WAY so it wont break. i have no idea if im correct or not. im recalling from a post i saw here a WHILE back. so dont bag on me for wrong information. just trying to help. =)
happy driving.

it's a safety feature... i believe it's in your manual. you might want to try looking in there
and NO.. there's no way to "program" it. it's a safety feature.. same thing when you close it and it stops.

ok, so I agree and understand why it doesnt open all the way, but can someone explain why when your closing it, it stops at 2/3 way shut? to me it would make sense if it auto closed like it does open, but you have to hold the button... wait for it to stop at 2/3.... release and hold again till closed. honestly that drives me nuts more then the opening stop point. i like the way vw's do theirs, just turn the **** to whatever position you want and sec later it does it.
The reason that it doesn't open all the way is to reduce the "body booming" sound that can occur at higher speeds. Scion calls it the "comfort stop" position. The reason it doesn't close all the way with one push of the button is for safety, you have to make a conscious effort to squeeze someones head in the sunroof. Here's the official Scion statement:
"To encourage the user to check the safety of the surroundings while operating the manual tilt down or close
function to fully close the center glass panel, this function contains a pause operation."

i always open it all the way... and drive at ridiculously high speeds... lol.. j/p ... but no matter how fast im going i dont hear the booming... i only get it when i open one window half way....
ok.. that makes sense.
so basically they dont want this to happen

I like how the sunroof works. On my daily commute, I open the sunroof up to the stop just a little before completely open. Then, as I am getting on the interstate, I close it to the stop so it is still open a little. Then, once I get back on normal roads, I open it back up. Works great for me.
^ Same, I love the sunroof's positions. Works great on a day to day basis.
Driving fast, windy day - 2/3 closed
Driving fast, hot, no-wind day - 2/3 open
Driving slow, cruising - fully open.
