Radiator Cap

What is the suitable psi for an aftermarket Radiator cap? Does anyone have the ARC radiator cap or oil cap?

ack154 01-19-2010 07:58 PM

Unless you like the look of a certain cap, there is essentially zero reason to "upgrade" your radiator cap.

I was given two ARC radiator caps 1.3 and 1.5. I just don't want to throw anything on that will mess with the radiator or the temp of the car. I also was given ARC oil cap. Can you pretty much use any oil cap as long as its made for the tC or if it fits?

As long as it is made for the tC (or most Toyota engines) the oil cap should be fine.

The radiator caps I have no idea what the PSI would be or if it would matter.

Sweet. Thanks for the help. Does anyone else know about the psi?

Well the TRD Radiator Cap is 1.1kg / 15.7 PSI, N type.

If I recall if you decide to change the radiator cap to a higher pressure it would apply for the OEM radiator. If you get an aftermarket radiator stay with the cap supplied with it.

hey bro if youre willing to get rid of the oil cap ill take it! lol itll go great with my ARC intake!!!

My dad had ARC parts laying around for the TC and Mkiv Supra. I have 2 ARC radiator caps 1.3 and 1.5, and I believe they are diff. shapes too type A and B. I have 2 oil filler caps. One is silver and one is blue. The blue one and some type of spring at the end. I love japanese parts, but they don't come with any description or instructions letting you know what is for what. I was messing around with the ARC cap and you have to take of the plastic valve cover to put it on because it would not fit or do I have the wrong cap? BTW, its looks so ugly without that plastice cover. Im thinking I have to go to the supraforums now to ask them if they want to buy these parts.

If the 1.3 radiator cap is a type B it could fit, just need to figure the design of it. Well the part no. for it is AMC003.

I feel like an idiot asking you guys. hahha. I didn't order the parts so that's why. I appreciate all the help. I know the silver ARC oil cap will def. fit. I just have to take off the plastic valve cover. **Do you know a good how-to thread to paint the head?** Ill try to post some pics of the Blue ARC Oil cap. Im guessing its for a Supra. Its has spring at the end sort of looks like the end of a thermostat. Im just trying to use what I have laying around in these packages for the tC and also figure out what parts belong to what car and sell what I don't need. This is money laying around here. hahaha. I can buy a lip or something.

dropzone 01-20-2010 08:29 PM

Not to hard to figure it out. Look for the part number and search it online, then tell us of any good news that becomes of it, like the front lip you're looking get.

Cool. I will let you guys know

If you changed out your radiator cap for a higher pressure one, I would quickly change it back! The stock toyota radiator is crap and has plastic end caps with crimp fittings. These can not handle higher pressures and will blow out the plastic end cap. I have a blown out one sitting in my garage so I learned the hard way. O and toyota wants $400 for a new one.
