Default removing stereo

hey guys,

i have done a search, but im looking for some specific answers.

i bought the 6-disc indash cd player from ebay. when my tc comes, im plan to just swap the single disc unit with the new 6-disc one.

two questions:
1) do i need to remove the negative cable of the battery if all i plan on doing is just unplugging the wiring harness from the stock unit and plugging it to the new unit?

2) do i need to do anything special to the stock unit before i take it out (besides powering it off?

thanks!

i went to an aftermarket radio and i just turned off the car, took out the radio, unplugged the harness, plug in the new one and it all works fine, so i would say no, just pull it out and hook the new one up.

If you have the install manual, I'm sure it will tell you to disconnect the battery - just good practice. I can tell you from experience that you could pull out the stereo without any problems. There is nothing you have to do to the stock unit before you pull it out. Little tip though: close the stereo cover before you pull the upper trim panel off.
