Default Ridiculous.... My ongoing saga

So now i am super upset. i order my flint tc 5 speed 3 month ago and still no car. after many problems and one resign scion sales manager i still have no car. i was contacted last week and told i had the oldest oder and they would do everything they could to get me a car. well they said they had found my car and were trading for it, they would have it sometime this week. so i called today and was told it is an automatic they made another mistake. this on top of unreturned phone calls for the first 6 weeks and me excepting to pay for the side air bags i didnt order... to bad that car was an automatic. so now i am considering my options and it is looking more and more like i am getting something else. i need a winter car real soon and the tc is looking worse and worse. RIDICULOUS!!!

its a new car that came out not too long ago and if u read around you would know that its almost impossible to order ur car and recieve it when the dealer tells u it will be there, its not like its a civic/camry or some other popular car... sucks, i know iv been through it

Sounds like your dealer sucks. Get a new dealer (even if it does mean a ride to Florida ). My dealer in Virginia always has 2 tCs on the lot. Strange how most dealers cannot even get a tC on the lot whereas a few can.

thats complete bs. find another dealer man (like cgypsy says, here in florida)... or make them give you a ton of freebies. as a matter of fact... make them order you one of another color and respray it in the color you want for free.

the tC is nice but im pretty much over it. im lookin at other options now.

Wow... I ordered my tC on a friday, and picked it up 8 days later on the next Saturday.

I wouldn't wait longer than 2 weeks, sorry.

Let me put it to you this way...even the executives from Scion Corporate have been waiting for their tC to arrive .... I know one of the high up execs have been waiting for close to 2 months.

I am sure your car is on the way ...

A lot of dealerships are having a hard time filling all thier tC orders (especially in stage 3 states) which sucks, I sympathize: I waited 2.5 months to get my girlfriends tC and I work @ a dealership.

What seems to ____ people off is not the wait time so much as the salespeople lying about the wait time. I don't get it, someone will be much more willing to wait if you tell them the truth and they get the car when they think they will; even if it takes a long time.

i dont care what u say three months is way to long for a $16k car when i was told 4-6 weeks. i order a 2004 silverstone s2000 with red and black leather the rarest color combo for 2004 and i only waited alittle over a month and it was in hot demand as well when i got it because of all the changes they just made. needless to say i have changed dealerships and should be driving my car before the end of next week

sorry to hear about your misfortune. I was in a total loss accident with my integra when someone plowed into me. So i was in an equally urgent situation to get a car and what i would say is for you to not be satisfied with one dealership working for you. If you need a car, which ever dealership can get it to you teh fastest deserves your business. Call around to other places and make it clear to the people there jsut how serious of a buyer you are, and have them work for you.

i got my flint mica 5spd here in so cal just thursday. I called somewhere around 25 dealerships added myself to 5 or so official wait/order lists and did not put a single penny down as a deposit. Don't get me wrong, i'm not sayin screw a whole bunch of dealershps, but make it clear to them that you are urgently needing that vehicle and the smart salespeople will take care of you.

For myself, i honestly was considering gonig another way entirely for my new car when i got the phone call from hollywood scion. And quite frankly, i'm very glad i got the tC. I couldn't be happier, and i'm glad i didnt settle for anything else. I didn't settle for another color either. hehe. Good luck my friend.

The problem is that salespeople don't know the wait time. Scion managers don't know the wait time. NOBODY can accurately tell you the wait time.

But what are they going to do? Tell you "we don't know WHEN we'll be getting a car"? Then the scumbag down the street talks out his ___ and tells you two weeks, and who gets your money? That's right, you give the scumbag your money because he told you what you WANTED to hear. So much for honesty.

So most dealers ESTIMATE the wait to the best of their knowledge, probably based on how long it took someone else to get a similar car. If the car is demand in your area, there's not much a dealer can do but put you on the preference list, and when the allocation fax comes in, see if an unclaimed car is being sent to another dealer and IF he has a car to trade, make a trade.

I waited almost three times as long as I was originally told it would take, and found every dealer had a different estimate. Early on, I researched HOW cars are allocated, and understood that I was at the mercy of whatever Toyota chose to give the dealer. Didn't make it any easier to wait, but at least I didn't put my faith in a WAG estimate and freak out when it didn't arrive.

I've said this before: ask the dealer where you will be on their preference list and how many cars they're getting in each allocation. Do this BEFORE you put your deposit down.

Oh, and one more tip: there's no law against putting a deposit in at more than one dealer.

Default be strong, brotha

I totally understand how you feel but the post above has a good point. In truth, we're all slaves to Toyota Regional, who are responsible for allocating any number of vehicles to certain dealerships. Often times, I've been told from some friends that work at Toyota in Cali, that your best bet to make your reservations at popular dealerships with high sales (ex. Longo Toyota). They often get a bit of preferential treatment in regards to allocation. Also, to appease the masses, Toyota's pushing a lot of automatics out of the ports, rather than manuals, since they tend to sell better and pre-orders have been mainly for automatics as of late (or so I've heard). Anywayz, I'm on my 14th week too (they told me 2-8 weeks), but I may be picking up my Tc later this week (finally!!!). If you're a fan of the Tc's, the wait can be worth it. I hope you stay with it.

I'm having almost the same kind of problem. I ordered Super White. I was told the car could be on the next shipment which would be a week wait and if not then it would be a 4 week wait. After 2 and a half weeks I called and recieved an offer of a black with side curtain airbags that will be coming in 3 more weeks....

I called every dealership in the area and one of the smaller dealerships seriously laughed at me when I asked if they had the car I wanted. He said he didn't know why I was only told 1 to 4 weeks because it typically takes 1 to 3 months.

A larger dealership told me they could have it in two weeks and took my number, so I guess we'll see how it goes...

Talk to the dealers, ask them what shipments are coming. They can tell you whats on the ground, whats in the truck and whats on the boat. I head hunted in MD for a Black Sand Pearl Tc. Took me about three weeks and five dealerships. The first dealership was ___ telling me I would have to wait 1 to 3 months. I said FOXTROT TANGO (F$%k That) and went to other dealers. I found SL and found Shawn Carr and get the car through Scion Annapolis since Shawn is the coolest **** on the planet (giving me the 411), he knew one was coming in exactly as I wanted it. Unfortunately I was driving down Rt 40 and saw it at Russel and I said to myself I cant wait and let it slip through my fingers so I turned around and signed papers that night. Turns out the car only had 5 miles on it, and was only on the lot for 2 hours. YAY ME. Krissy from Scion Annapolis calls me and tells me they found the car, turns out the car I just bought was the one they found. Im telling you guys just headhunt for the cars you will find them.
