Default Selling tC... Have question's about selling

I'm selling my tC and I have to sell it pretty fast. I'm already looking at CarMax and a local Scion Dealer said they would look at it and give me a price.

Please, this below is relevant to my questions not a sale.

My car is a 2008 tC with 29,800miles. It was totally babied cuz it was "show" and no go. The outside and inside is a great condition. I have a couple of things still left over from it being a "show" car... tinted all around, tinted tails, color matched TBL, Interior trim is all color matched to the outside BSP, black suede headliner and all pillars including around the trunk (the good ****), new yellow top optima batter, short shifter, lowered on stechs, red and white gauges and HVAC and clazzio seat covers with "black" suede inserts. Thats about it.LOL Also car has never been in accident.

1. My clazzio seats everybody loves and thinks is real. Problem now is the suede is faded bad. Do I pull them off, keep in with options to pull, or try to dye them black again?

2. At the dealer they have a car almost exact to mine in miles and year and they have a price of $18,995. They will probably sell it at $17,000 the lowest depending on any trades or whatever. I was gonna private party sell it for $15K and was even gonna throw in my rims bodykit and anything else the person wanted. Is it too far fetched to ask $15K high and $14K low from the dealer? That would give them a profit of $2K if they sold it at the lowest $17K and bought it for $15K or $3K if sold at $17K and bought at $14K. I think this should be plenty profit for a dealer to be happy... right?

So would that be asking too much for the car from the Scion dealer? I know Carmax probably will only give me $10K-$12 at the most from what I've read but more looking at selling to the dealer. What's everyone else think?

BTW, I have car for sale.LOL j/k Not trying to sell here so please don't move me.

If you goto carmax the car has to be stock or near completely stock. They will take your car with mods, but give you a horrible price in doing so. And a dealer likely will not give you near 15K for the car, while they may turn a 2K profit in your head, they want more money. Plus when you goto a dealer you'll get trade in estimate, which is a fair deal lower then private seller.

Worst things worst would be take it to a dealer/carmax and see what they say. Because honestly playing number games with a vehicles worth won't do more then just get your hopes up. Good luck.

You are right. Running the numbers in my head is getting my hopes up. I still owe money on the car but less then what its worth. We are trying to get rid of the monthly payment and insurance by selling it. At the same time we'd like to get at least around $6k to pay off our xB so we get rid of that monthly payment too. Its all about having the least amount of money to pay out at the end of the month.

I was boosted with a number of other goodies and I sold it private seller for 11.5K

A 2007 with 49K miles too. With all the goodness you have on it, if you're trying to make the most money, selling it private would be your best bet.

Dealers will do what they can't to make the most money off your car. That being said, they're not going to give you anything near the market value for your car. But, they're going to turn around and try to sell it a tad bit over market value. Less money for you, large profit for them.

I was quoted 11.5k, and 12.2k from two different dealers when I was thinking of selling my (stock) 2009 RS5 tC with ~20k miles (no accidents and in excellent condition).

Dealers don't care what you've done to the car. They look at black book value, and recent prices the car has sold for at auction to determine the amount of money they will give you. And of course they still need to turn a quick profit.

I think you're crazy to sell your car to a dealer. Just wait it out and advertise like crazy for a private sale (craigslist, cars.com, local newspaper, local online news site, etc). Good luck!

Yeah you *might* get 13k for it, and I think thats stretching it. I was asking $15k for my tC with all TRD parts (trd supercharger, LSD, trd 18" rims, factory body kit, fog lights, trd shocks, struts, springs, front and rear trd bars ect.) and they couldnt come close. My mileage was less than 20k. Plus it has 75k+5 years warranty.

Your mods will never add value to a "dealership" sale, but a private party they will. Your best bet is to pull of every single mod and return it to stock and try and sell the parts online.

Private party is the only way to sell a car unless you want to get ripped off. Even on trade in, they will give you a miniscule amount for your car.

I tried getting rid of the aftermarket stuff that's still on but trying to get rid of headliner and pillars in suede is too hard. Need to do local and have to find clean no smoking interior and someone who wants to pay the difference. At this point I can't wait I just got to sell.
