Default Sigh, where should I go fellow brethren?

Being the lucky guy that I am, I was driving behind two cars on a highway bridge. All of a sudden, both cars swerve like mad men and I was like "WTF is going on" and boom, there it was, a POS plastic paint container. I couldnt avoid it, and it got dragged underneath my tC for about 20 yards. I look underneath and half the plastic undercarriage is now torn open. The paint is scratched up too, but doesn't look like it deformed it. That is some seriously cheap stuff underneath our cars. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have go to the dealer to get my FIRST comp oil (yea I HAD a new car) so I thought about doing it there, but obviously, this could get pricey

Oh, I almost chipped the side of my door when it gently grazed the concrete divider when I got out to inspect the damage. But that's just icing on the cake

Sorry to hear that! Where do you live? Maybe some scion owners from your area could recommend a good place.

Yea, the bodys on our out cars look nice, but aren't exactly built like tanks.

Yea, reading the forum, most people have stated that and I knew coming in what would be in store, but damn, a POS plastic shell to protect a car's most valuable area? I don't know about other cars, but that seems pretty crappy. And the door gently tapping against the concrete? Man, when it rained, it monsooned on me!

BTW, I'm in the Tampa area. I'll probably end up going to the dealer

That reminds me of when I was following a truck through a one lane construction zone. I saw him hit something and I saw it spinning. Turns out, it was a can of construction orange spray paint. Tagged my passenger side rocker panel. This was probably 4 months ago. Yep, its still there. Now, since it is warming up, I am going to have to get some rubbing compound to get that stuff off.

Good luck with getting your car fixed.

well it sucks it happened but your insurance company should take care of it all and recommend a good place for you. Some insurance companies let you pick the place too, depending who you have. Good Luck getting it fixed.

No way I'm taking an insurance claim on it, hehe don't want my nice rates skyrocketing and besides I have a $1,000 deductible. I'm gonna go get an estimate from the dealer, it's just a small section of plastic that's right below front bumper. If they charge more than $30-40 for labor, then I will be crying

My car just feels defiled now because of the scratch, I know that's not easily fixed

hmmm I dont know why your rates would go up? You didnt cause the accident. A tire flew off a truck about 3 years back and I was in my Satty and it smashed down on my hood and buckled it and screwed my front bumper up some and my insurance company took care of it and my rates never went up. I love USAA and WOW your deductible is HIGH.... anyways best of luck getting it fixed.

In general, I think filing insurance claims isn't good for rates. In addition, I think I've read somewhere it makes more sense to have high deductibles anyways. The increase in premiums would offset any savings one would receive from the lower deductibles when involved in a claim.

I did go to my local dealer and the service guy said it would be $80 for the driver's side $60 for the passenger side. He referred it to as a "stone shield." I Googled and couldn't find anything, but I don't understand his point of reference. The piece stretches across the front of the car horizontally, sp there is no per se "driver" or "passenger" side.
