Default Strange noise in dash clicking/grinding

Hey guys, first time posting here but I have been reading it anonymously for awhile now. I have an 05' tC with an automatic transmission and 52,000 miles on it. My warranty is up so I don't want to rack up a huge bill at the dealership.
I did have them take a look at it to try and diagnose my issue I'm having, but they had no results. This has been going on for about 10,000 - 15,000 miles now, and I am almost fed up and ready to sell the car due to the annoyance factor.

I constantly hear a clicking noise in the dash behind the instrument cluster or coming out of the driver side vent (hard to tell). It seems to be related to the speed I am going, because the clicking becomes faster until I hit 25-30mph then it stops.
When I put the car in reverse and start to move I hear a grinding noise coming from the same area in the dash, maybe these two noises are related.

I have played with the AC/Fan Controls and they seem to have no effect on them. It doesn't seem to matter if it is cold or hot outside either.

I did read a thread awhile back about a heater core shroud causing this problem. The person found out it was a tab that had broke off of the heater core cover if I remember correctly. This didn't sound very logical to me, but I could definitely be wrong.

I am planning on tearing the dash apart today and driving it up and down the road to perform a few tests. I would love to hear any input you guys have before I start working on it.

Thanks,
Kyle

My initial thought was the fan also, but I can turn the fan off and still hear the noise. This has me really confused.. :/

Kyle let me be honest with you. You have a tC.. you should expect all these rattlings and stuff and get ready for some more in the future.

I have a 2013 tC that makes the same clicking sound from behind the instrument cluster. If you figure out what is making the clicking sound please post.
