Default trouble closing sunroof

Yesterday when I got home and pulled in my garage I went to close my sunroof like any other day. However this has been happening on and off last 2 days. When I press the close button it will look like its going to close then automatically stop and reverse and open itself back up to the position I started closing it at. Yesterday it would not stop doing this until I thought of an idea to apply slight pressure to it while pressing close which enabled me to close it yesterday.

Have any of your experienced something similar to this? What do you think I should look at/ try, or is this something I should head to the dealer for?

Check the tracks. Maybe put some lube in the tracks. If it meets resistance, it is programmed to stop.

I occasionally have the same problem with mine. It just started a couple weeks ago, and it's been intermittent, so I haven't bothered to do anything about it yet. I've found that letting off the close button just before the point where it stops, and then tapping the button till it's closed all the way works.

I'm guessing that one of two different things is causing it. Either it has some sensor that's gotten dirty that detects when something is blocking it's path (like a garage door), or it's encountering too much resistance when trying to close and programmed to reverse itself (like a power window). I think the latter is more likely, but I haven't looked to see what could be causing the resistance yet.

Anyone else got any ideas or solutions?

Shortly after buying mine (used) I experienced this problem myself. The springs that allow the front deflector to pop up are very strong. If the hinges on it are not properly lubricated, it causes too much resistance for the sunroof to pull down, and caused it to reverse. I lubricated the hinges on the deflector, and no problems at all since. Hope this helps!
