Is it true that used tC's cost similar to new?

From reading around I've been getting the idea that for some reason a used tC costs near the same as a new tC of the same year (with reasonably same mileage) whereas this usually isnt the case with other cars. This might lead me to consider getting a new one even though normally I've always been told that buying new is a waste of $2,000+ as soon as you drive it off the lot.

Thoughts?

The sticker price may be the same as a used scion tc when going to a dealer, but then you have delivery fee, tax and licensing etc... So really you're paying more from the dealer. But it is true. the tc's do not depreciate very rapidly from what I've noticed. I would look into it, see how much it costs (out the door) from a dealership and how much a used is going for...

Unless you don't like the new enhancements ('o8 grills, headlights, tails, etc.), I would say just buy a new one. Dealers can mark up USED tCs like crazy! The worst part is people will actually pay that much for a used one. Good ol' "Supply and demand" at work. The tC is a hot car right now.

Yes you do loose a crapload of money while buying brand new with 0 miles...but maybe a bit less with this car.

hmm... my previous tc, when it got wrecked,(check my sig) it was out the door 19000+ after 10 mos insurance valued it at 18500.. these cars hold their value well..

hmm, I paid just under 95 for my 05 BSP so it's really a matter of haggling and looking around with patience.

the second week i had my car i went to a used car dealership for my girl at the time...they had a 05 tc for sale that cost the same as my 07...the guy asked me if i was lookin to trade my car in...i just laughed at him

Is it true that ppl try to sell them used for what they cost new? Yes, I've seem many for sale at what even seems to be more then they cost new. I doubt that these ppl actually sell their vehicle for that price. It is always $16,750ish at the dealer. I got 80,000 miles on mine. I'll let it go for ...mmmm... $15,998. with Navi. The dents are free of charge.

Yeah. When I was considering getting a tC, I started looking at used ones. They were all $15k-$17k, all with pretty high mileage for the age of the cars. At the dealership, the new ones were going for $18k flat. I decided to get a new one.

Used tC cost 500+ more than used ones. Or atleast thats what my dealer told me and also from what I saw...

I just bought an 06 tC auto 17k miles for 15250. The dealer's asking was something like 17-18 and blue book is almost 19...I peaked at the original sticker and it's only 17.5 (inc delivery) so are they actually going UP in value? Sounds like the dealers get to make a profit when they sell them new and again when they sell them used. But it's nice to know they are a good investment.

What it is a hot car style and limited numbers on the market..........nobody is selling..........and everyone is wanting............makes base value jump..............

hansta 06-27-2007 06:57 AM

there's one supa white in my town dealer and it's 05, 55000 miles on it and the dealer's asking 15000.......and they are about to sell it....it's amazing

The first time I looked on Autotrader.com to check and see what my year was going for I was f'ing amazed. I'm even more happier now that I bought it than when it was new. These tC's are losing almost NO value.

Looks like that Honda S2K is gonna come a little bit quicker and easier thanks to this thing.

Scion ROCKS!

I've seen some ridiculous prices on craigslists haha, i.e like used cars w/out mods costing more than mines, but thats just craigslist. Some listings are actually dealer listing at high prices. I think this is because the tC is built as an "economy" car and thats what people want, or at least I think during this uprise in gas prices.
