Who built the engine for the tC?

Does anyone know who built the toyota engine for the tC. My friend said it could possibly be Yamaha but he's not sure. I've always thought it was just Toyota engineers who built it at first, but seeing that I own a tC, I wanna know all about it. I know that Yamaha had built the toyota S series engine but I 'm curious if they built the 2azfe also.

i don't think yamaha had anything to do with our engines. onlyt toyota engine i know they made was the beams for the toyota altezza, and the taurus engine for the SHO.

ahboy 09-19-2007 04:47 AM

so does that mean I'm right that the tC engine was built by Toyota?

SquallLHeart 09-19-2007 04:55 AM

yes...

the only car engines you should ever asked who built them are hyundai, mitsubishi, daimlerchrysler, ford, and mazda. the first three shared R&D in their GEMA (Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance) in which resulted the Mitsubishi's 4B11 (found in 08 Lancer and 4B11T in the new Lancer EVO X), Dodge Neon SRT-4 (& Caliber), and Hyundai Tiburon. the later two made the MZR engine series found in the Mazda 3, 6, 2, and the Ford Focus.

everyone else, makes their own but for fun facts, toyota owns 10% of subaru.

Yamaha didn't help in the production of your lower compression, torquey grocery getter, boost friendlier engine.

Yamaha helped produce my lower displacement, high compression, 8,400 RPM fuel cut, high revving, 100 hp per Liter engine...if that's what you were thinking of.

Why in the world would Yamaha help produce an engine like yours???

MilanoRed 09-19-2007 06:43 AM

was that a rhetorical statement and question? it gave me goosebumps.

ahboy 09-19-2007 07:58 AM

well lol, first off thanks for the correction. Its just that I didn't know too much about who built what. I'm still in the process of learning about that from you guys. It may be obvious to you guys, but my knowledge of Toyota is still not up there with you guys yet. I think I mistook what my friend said about Yamaha and Toyota. Yamaha did tune engines for Toyota, but didn't make them probably. GRTRasta, you're right!
Another thing is, yeah, I knew as much that Mazda and Ford shared interchangeable parts and engines. I already knew Hyundai and Mitsubishi shares the same engine. Damn, I feel ashamed!

GTRasta 09-19-2007 01:02 PM

Don't feel ashamed, it's all good.

nauticac 09-19-2007 03:18 PM

lol @ yamaha.

yamaha a toyota have had quite a history. they helped them develop more engines than most people think. the rev happy 4AGE from the MKI MR2 comes to mind.

Here is some information from a website I found:
"The Yamaha connection needs to be mentioned: Yamaha developed the Toyota 2000GT and was a partner of Toyota in the design of most successive G model heads. Most G engines/heads, including the 3SGE/3SGTE (now in it's 3rd generation), the Previa specific 2TZFE/Z (no relation to the old T engines), and the newest 2ZZGE engines were and are still designed and cast by Yamaha. The 4AGE and 2JZGE heads are proprietary Toyota designs and manufacture, although many components are still made and supplied by Yamaha."

Don't be so surprised. Those big vans need a lot of downforce to remain stable at high speed.

AKAvensis 09-19-2007 05:46 PM

not quite sure what they call it, or why they do it, but is is a very very very common thing. that is a more subtle example. usually they look like fair rides with lights all over the place lol

And they are great for those pesky tailgaters!

HunterGreene 09-19-2007 08:26 PM

Actually, if its from Japan, dosen't it have anti-tailgating lasers and missiles? that would be sweet

MrBurrito 09-19-2007 08:53 PM

i can tell you who built our motors.... some japanese guys in japan. hahah jk yeah the tc motor is an engine transfered over from the camry which was toyota made so our enginge was created by toyota no real partnership in the development of it
