Default 2006 Scion tC Clutch problem

cant remember if the 2006 is 1st or 2nd generation.

65000 miles on my car.

i have to press like 3/4th of the way down for the clutch to engage. and lately once in a while each day the clutch pedal stays down and doesnt spring back up. so i have to push it up with my foot. stock clutch.

any ideas? one dealership is charging me $2900 for parts and labor, another $2200

ouch

id rather sell it to Carmax before the clutch goes out than pay that money for a new clutch on a $6000 kbb car

Sounds more like a master cylinder than a clutch problem. Check for leaks around the master and/or slave cylinders.

i looked at the manual i dont see that.

a backyard mechanic told me to check the clutch fluid. i didnt realize the clutch needs fluids like the brakes, automatic transmission, engine etc.

i dont see that in the manual
