ABS, E-BRAKE lights on, and (.!.) light flashing!
after I installed my TRD rear shocks today, I got all these lights on when I started my car. I didn't disconnect anything but only the brakets that hold the wires in place.. ....If anybody can help me out, I would apreciate it!!
P.S. I already took out the ABS fuse, EFI fuse, and ECU fuse and still got the lights on!! Thanx!!! Josh. |
did you try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting the battery and then starting it up to reset the car?
|
^^ I just finished disconnecting the battery.. ....I'm gonna go connect it and see if that will help...thanx for the help tho!!
|
you took out the fuses and the lights are still on?
are the fuses back in? |
ya I took out the fuses to see if any of them were blown and none were. I thought that if I took them out, it would fix the problem but it didn't. Neither did disconnecting the battery.. ... . I guess I have to take it into the dealership... .. . ...If anybody else knows what I can do, let me know!!
bump!!! nobody knows what else I can do?? |

sounds like when you disconnected that bracket it wiggled a wire loose. Unfortunately looks like you'll have to pay the dealer to figure it out. Hope it's not too expensive. :(
|
I called the dealership and asked if I would have to pay anything for them to clear the codes. they asked me how many miles my car has and I told them it had 18k. they said they wouldnt charge cuz it has low mileage. i know who i talked to so if they come up with bs ill just let them know which service writer i talked to. ill keep u guys updated on what happens...
|
well 18k is under warranty anyway so they shouldn't be charging you at any rate, so that guy should be correct in what he said
|
im going to venture and guess you damages the abs sending unit or wire. this is fairly common for people who dont know how to install stuff
anyways, ofcourse the lights will be on when there is no fuse there. thats the point! wether the fuse is blown or not there, its the job of the dash lights to let you know there is a problem. it should be a fairly easy fix. i see this occationally and its as simple as the abs sending unit plug loose or not installed. |
hey...ive actually had this before dude....its the harnesses behind the front kick panels....you gotta plug those back in and the warning lights will go away. if it doesnt work pm me..maybe we can figure it out before you take it in.

I found out what was wrong...apparently the previous owner messed around with the right rear speed sensor wire and tore it. they tried to do a half-fast job on fixing it by twisting the wires together and covering it up with electrical tape....it looked nasty as hell!! well, when i jacked my car up, i looked in and saw that the connection was different from the left rear speed sensor so i looked at the right rear speed sensor and saw the wires were loose. there was no way i was able to connect the wires because the wires are too short to be connected so I have to purchase a new rear speed sensor.
sucks for me! |
damn how much does that cost
|
I checked and its only 33 bucks!!!! The front speed sensors are the ones that cost 200 bucks. I'm gonna order it today...
|
hey finally we caught a break! 33 bucks isn't so bad. cool nice to know that'll do the trick!
|
yep!!! when I saw the speed sensor wires torn to sh!t I was like DAMN!!! this is gonna cost me a pretty penny!!! but once I saw it was $32.78 shipped to my door I was like YES!!! FINALLY something that doesn't cost a left nutt to get!!! LOL

There's a speed sensor wire on the rears? That would be the logical thing since our cars are FWD, but when the ice was real bad here, I could gun it, and if I shifted fast enough to keep the momentum up, I could hit the speed limiter (127) in 5th gear on a patch of ice. Mind you, I know that was stupid, being that if I caught traction I would have been replacing something, but I find it kind of weird that it's not on the rear tires. Incorrect speed measuring would surely affect ABS, I would think.
