Bbk question! Upgraded master cylinder needed?
 

Hey so I jusdt bought a Wilwood 4 piston BBK for my 07 tC and was wondering if anyone knew if a upgraded master cylinder was needed. I tried finding thread about this and even a master that was different than stock but couldn't find anything. Will the stock master push enough fluid or will I be good with the stock pieces?

Anyone with experience please let me know what you did and how it worked! thanks

i dont know of anyone that has. usually most i believe just install and good to go. if you track it to where brakes have a lot fo pressure and hard use you may.

First off, congratulations on the purchase, those are badazz. You'll love 'em. But anyways, this would be a question for Wilwood. And when you went to purchase them, and they didn't suggest any other upgrades, then you know you'll be fine right there. The only upgrade they might suggest is braided lines, which are awesome and I'd recommend to anyone getting a BBK. So, without knowing the brake system, you know you're good anyways. I happen to know that the stock master cylinder is not going to effect your brake performance at all. It will have no problem feeding the fluid down. The only thing that you'll notice a difference with is, like I said, the braided lines. That is what you are going to want to invest in. The cylinder has nothing to do with it.

Short answer - NO.

And Criminaltc- any decent BBK kit, comes with stainless lines. I would suggest adding a premium brake fluid, and not the cheapest stuff at autozone - if your flushing fluid. If not, the factory toyota stuff is just fine!

Thanks guys! I just bought them from someone here on SL and they do come with the steel braided lines. My buddy who's in the middle of doing a STi brake swap on his 240 said to look into it cuz his master wouldn't push enough fluid and well brakes are something kinda important to have working properly haha

Congrats on the purchase and that's a great deal you got.

Like many have posted before, the stock MC is sufficient enough. A member on here, 2tCornot2tC, has 4 pot brakes front and rear with the stock MC on his tC2, which uses the same 15/16" MC as our tC1. And everything works fine according to him.

I also have a similar BBK setup like yours, but all pieced together and using some 1990 4Runner calipers, lol.
