Irritating Noise from Stance Coilovers, need advice.
So here is the deal i have had the Stance coilovers on for almost 2 months now. Over thanksgiving weekend started hearing a clunking noise in the back right rear. I have looked and still havent found any answers, so i recorded this video to let everyone hear what the noise is, I know the screen is black on the video but it is because i laid my iphone down in the back on top of a tshirt since i took out the rear interior to get a better hearing for the noise. Any information would be greatly helpful.
thank you, please watch the whole video, noise persists and gets alot louder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kp6VbIN5z0 |
Are the three mounting bolts torqued to spec? Is the top hat seated firmly? Are you sure you're not just rubbing the fender?

the three mounting bolts were torqued to 59 ft/lb. I have checked the top hat many times and it is seated firmly. And im not rubbing on the fender, they have been rolled and pulled for clearance. |
i think you might have installed em wrong.. when u lowered the car, did you lower the preload as well, sounds like you have too much droop, therefore more play is added to the springs.. it kinda sounds like the springs are just moving around when u hit a bump or something.. but then again, it wouldn't be that dramatic if you were going over little bumps.. hmmm that's weird

Have you re-checked all of the bolts? It's a good idea to re-check everything after about 500 miles or so.

dude, i don't think that's your coilover then.. check your sway bar, and see if your camber arm is hitting the sway bar.
|
^That too. I've read that with aftermarket camber arms with the car lowered a good bit it can hit the sway bar. Could it be possible with OEM? IDK.

noise has been resolved, after looking at the coilovers more closely one of the lock nuts seemed to be loose, so retightned them and now the noise is gone.
