Official Raceland Coilovers Thread
Was cruising around eBay and ran into this..
LINKY! What do you guys think of this? yellowxhoodie edit: Since this thread has become so long, it has basically turned into the "official" raceland coilover thread. We are now beyond the point of just opinions on how the setup looks because people are actually running them and can give real feedback. here are some of the more Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do Raceland coilovers ride compared to springs with stock struts/shocks? A: Stiff but not bumpy, in my opinion better than springs with stock struts/shocks. Q: are these direct bolt on or will i have to use a few stock pieces? A: yes, the stock strut/shock tops hats will need to be used Q: Will i rub? A: These allow you to adjust ride height, so rubbing will depend on what rim/tire combo you are running, as well the ride height you set, camber specs, etc... Q: Are these safe for track use? A: This is debatable, some users say they have used them on the track and havent had any problems while others do not even feel safe attempting to push this product on the track. getaforknjob edit: Q: How much of a drop can I expect from Raceland coilovers? A: There is no 100% accurate answer, but from user to user, it is anywhere between 2.5"-3" on all four corners. |
They look like they'd rust in anything over 10% humidity.
Other than that, never heard of them. Not a clue... but for just over $300, I'd probably never trust them. There's a reason they're that cheap... one way or another, something is not up to par. |
buy them, and let us know how it went! lol
just remember you get what you pay for! |
$300 for coilovers?
 they just look cheap and flimsyl, i would never trust those. |
never ever heard of these. they look like there made of cardboard tubes with alumnium foil/tin sheets wrapped around them. would never get these 300? sumthings wrong with them
|
Weez need a guinea piggy... NOT IT!!!
|
If it looks too good to be true, it's probably on eBay.
|
u guys see what it says at the bottom?
raceland assumes no resposibility in case of accidents, injury, death which may be related to disassembly of the products performed by non-raceland mechanics basically if this thing breaks on u while driving we take no blame on it but basically blame ur mechanic even if they did a good job installing them. |
gotta love ebay...
|
I had Raceland shocks on my old GTI. They were made in china and one of them blew within a year. Their products are basically like Megan Racing (bunch of made in china copies). They're kinda popular in Europe.
|
the collars for the springs dont look very strong... def not strong enough to hold the weight of teh vehicle lol!
|
kid iknow from buffalo has these and he says there amazing....im gunna wait it out see how his goes and go from there!

here are some pics I found on clubsciontc.com with these Raceland Coilovers installed.. from what I read is that these can drop 3 inches. here's the link to the post... http://clubsciontc.com/forums/suspen...install-27042/

I saw this on cstc as well.. The user who was posting was actually working for Raceland themselves.. He was trying to be all slick"Ooh, I installed these brand new Raceland coil-overs they're freaking awesome" And in another thread "Ooh I installed my Raceland header and exhaust.. I love them so much etc etc" Never actually said he was from Raceland until someone confronted him about it.. Smooth.. But anyways back on topic. For Cheap exhaust? Sure. But suspension is definitely not something you should go cheap with..

idk, the blue bottom rings look like there on a slant ready to give out. seems to be made very cheaply like it would rust up bad. maybe sum antirust paint would help that? but also Hotchkis is known to rust aswell and pretty bad too and people still buy them. idk. I wouldnt F around with suspension and cheap out
|
again i say the collars look like they are about to snap and definitely dont look like they can hold any type of load.
|
Hmm alot of ppl on the VW forums are trying these out with no complaints..
|
Yeh my brother has a jetta and brought a set installed them. He said the are pretty good not bouncy at all. And they go pretty low.
|
I mean for the price there not horrible u know? u don't lose much. but idk I wanna be able to see one In person to really see how they're constructed
|
hey ppl, i just got these RACELAND Coilovers on (6/26/09) and i put them on that same day.....in my opinion i think they are great, especially for the price!!!! The construction of the coilover is just like anyother, they look great and of course ride really good....i have them set pretty much as low as they can get, and the ride height is really nice....they arent bouncy like heated springs, but they r pretty stiff (in a good way)...so far so good, havent had any problems, they r easy to lower/higher and its a confortable ride (sitting as low as my car is).... i will post up pics soon maybe tomorrow after i put the oem front lip on. so far i dont have a negative comment to post on these coilovers so i think they are great.
these coilovers will go up in price as soon as they see ppl buying them alot.... |
