Rear Spindle Replacement
 

Hey guys so I believe my Rear Spindle is going out or part of it any ways. Im not sure what its called so i took some pictures. I think its a Bushing or something but I was told that i need to replace the Spindle so. When im driving over 55 it sounds like a have a flat spot on my rear tire but i dont. I need some Advice/Help Please

If you don't know what you're doing, take it to the evil dealership.
It will cost you less in the long run...

Cost less in the long rung taking it to the dealership haha yeah right.

Im just asking if any one can tell me what part i need.
I never said i didnt know what i was doing. Im here for help not for people to tell me to go to the dealer to get ripped off.

Find yourself a dealer you trust. You wouldn't want someone to stereotype you, would you?
As I said it CAN cost less to have the dealer do it if you don't have the proper tools, don't have (or know) everything you need, and have to drive around chasing after parts.
I recently did front wheel bearings. Next time it goes to the dealership.

As a former Scion Champion (unpaid position, rewarded for passion for the product) I take huge offense at the ASSumption that all dealership personnel are dishonest. it was my real life experience that I was lied to regularly by customers, while I was straight with people. The majority of my 150 or so coworkers were honest too.

Well I understand where your coming from but i have full access to a garage with a lift and tools and i feel confutable enough to take this task on with me and some friends. I guess if i mess things up ill end up spending money and taking it to the dealer. So other than taking my car to the dealer could you help me with my problem?
Has any one had this happen to them before?

The photo is not your spindle

Is it a peace of the spindle? I was told by a mechanic that part/bushing is part of the spindle and i would have to replace everything. I cant find to much about this. Im about to do my brakes and rotors soon so maybe i could just do all of this in one day.

I believe the rear on the tC is a hub carrier that requires you replace the whole assembly. It was on the beam axle Scions.
A spindle is what the wheel etc rotates on...

Im not sure and im not saying your wrong thats just what i was told. But any ways could you point me in the right direction so i can start ordering parts i want to get this fixed.

From the photo, it looks like you simply need a control arm bushing. If a bearing is bad, you will hear a sound like loud tire noise. From what you're saying, it doesn't sound like a bearing, but I'm not a trained Toyota tech at your local dealership. Who diagnosed your problem in the first place, and why aren't they fixing it?

I have already told you this i dont want to take my car to the dealer. I just want to know what parts i need to fix this problem.

Am i going to need a control arm bushing? All i really want to know is what part is the name of the part that is broken so i can replace it... I have already taken the wheel off and looked and im sure i could do it myself i just need to know what i need to buy to fix everything.

Honestly, if you can't diagnose, I would as least get help. I can't tell you without looking at your car in person.

I can Diagnose, Didnt you see the pictures. My problem is i do not know what part i need to replace, the bushing or the hole assemble.

You wanted help/advice then get mad when someone tells you advice. He answered what you need which is a rear control arm bushing from a picture that really shows nothing to be wrong. He also didn't say to goto the dealer again, he stated he isn't a Toyota Technician. He's also asked why the person who told you this was the problem isn't fixing it. Honestly from judging by some of your posts here, and in previous threads, I would take it to get fixed correctly. Do you know how to knock out the bushing and press it in without ripping, tearing, or braking it? Is this happening only at 55 or other speeds? Cruising, accelerating, or braking when it happens? Answer these and you'll get much better answers. Simply posting a picture, calling it something its not, then being mad when you ask for advice isn't helping.

Edit: You said it sounds like a flat spot, but claim no such thing. How have you verified this?

Or, you could take it to a dealer... ;-)

Sorry for getting my panties in a ruffle I just really want to get this fix and i dont want to take it to the dealer. Maybe if i have to i will take it to a mechanic maybe to have the bushing pushed out and new one installed. This is happening at about 40 Mph and up. It sounds like i have a flat spot on the rear tire but there isnt any flat spots. It was hard to take a picture of but the bushing is cracked pretty badly.

Okay so because i dont want to go to the dealer i called them :) and You are right it is a rear control arm bushing But you have to replace the entire Control arm the bushing doesn't come out from what they dealer has told me.
