Default Tein Street Basis Coilovers.

Im just wondering if anyone here has these and what your experience is with them?

I am considering buying them shortly but just want to get some opinions. on how the ride/perform and if you had any problems with them?

Also, what is the difference between the Tein Street Basis and the Tein Basic coilovers?

They are roughly 80 bucks difference on assaulttechs site and im wondering if i should go with the basics instead.

Thanks.

Joe

I have the Basics.

SSP's have Adjustable Dampening...Basics does not.

I've had mine for over a year now...I still <3 them...Nice stable ride...Only bad part is when u hit them BIG bumps in the road or a Pothole..U will really feel it..haha

I am also MaxedOut w/ 1 Perch removed too.

Heres a quick pic of the Stance...

So please tell me what are these then?

http://assaultech.com/tein/tein_damp.../i-512849.aspx

Are they the Basics?

http://assaultech.com/tein/tein_damp...2/i-34978.aspx

the basis does not go as low as the basics and less adjustability in the rear. also has a less aggressive spring rate

the basics are a good starter point for anyone. get them. they are worth the extra money. they have a good long life span. ive had mines for 6 years and they still ride great for a 6 yrd old suspension

Teecizzle,

Ssp's also come with top hats and have front camber plates, as well as pillowball mounts (the "p" in ssp). It should be noted that the pillowball mounts, while good for handling response, will add even more harshness. He ssps are a good off the shelf unit for autox.

So, i ended up orderding the Street Basis coilovers. They are a newer coilover for tein, and are a little cheaper and are supposed to go lower than the basics.

I think the cheaper price along with this video sold me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotat...&v=Q0hNtYI7S0E

I got them for around 700 shipped.

I dunno if anyone else has purchased these but once i install them ill post up a review and some pics.

I'm curious to see how low they go. According to the chart they'll drop up to 3.4-3.5". Where did you buy them from?

why? have you heard bad things about the basis? I really dont see what the difference is to justify $150 extra for the basics. This is just for a Daily driver car. I dont track my car at all.

Also from what ive been reading the Street Basis are going to replace the Basics. The only thing that was weird to me was that they were cheaper. I read up on them and found some good info but i havent seen a lot of user reviews since they are so new.

here is one from another forum.

Default Tein Street Basis(fronts installed)

So i just wanted to give you guys an update on the coilovers. I have the fronts installed now because we could not get the rear bolt loose that holds the strut in place.

First, i want to say these things can go pretty low. Im sitting with the fronts with about 3-4 threads left and im pretty slammed. I probably cant go any lower or id be scraping and rubbing every turn or bump. Ill probably raise them up a couple threads. Ill post some pictures soon.

So about the rears . . . we're gona hopefully try and get them on tomorrow. The bolt for some reason would not come loose. We tried everything. We used an impact gun, breaker bars, tons of pb blaster and everything we could throw at it. Our last resort it seems is to heat the bolt up and hopefully it comes loose that way or try and break it and replace it.

What do you guys think could work?

Have you ever had any issues with any of these bolts before? Im not sure where would sell that replacement if we did break it?

Thanks for any advice you have.

Joe

I still want you to Max those Basis Out....then get a tape measure & measure from the ground to the wheel well.

I wanna see how much lower they are compared to Basics...if you can do that??

The ground to the wheel well in the front is 24 inches. maybe a quarter inch lower.
