Tein Super Street Coilovers DIY Install question...
Hey all,
Let me just start off by saying that THIS SITE RULES! Up until now EVERY SINGLE question I've had about DIY projects for my tC have been adequately answered after doing a little searching around the site... So here's my question: I've got a set of Tein SS Coilovers I'm planning on installing soon. Naturally I've been doing lots of research on the topic here. I found this great install guide someone linked on here: http://my.prostreetonline.com/forums...hread.php?t=86 The thing is, I've been reading about people having squeaking issues with their Tein's Pillowball mounts. I recall reading somewhere that someone used some sort of grease (white something of other?) to alleviate that issue. I would also assume applying some grease would be a good thing anyways... So to those of you who have installed their own Tein Coilovers or have had it done professionally, did you or your installer use any grease when installing them? If so, is there a particular brand or type of grease I should get to do the job? Please let me know when you get a chance... And yes I DEF plan on getting the EDFC unit to accompany the coilovers. I can't f-ing wait!!! Thanks a lot!!! |

Maybe white lithium grease?
|
YES! I think that's the grease I had read about. Any idea about having to use it for my application?
|
bump for some more info please

its not necessary to use this grease, but if you get it professionally installed, they might grease it for you. i had my B&G coils done professionally and they greased the bushings so it wouldnt squeak or make popping noises.
for your pillowball mounts, you could use the lithium grease...but you can always apply that yourself if you do hear any squeaking. from the factory, the joints on the pillowball should already be greased slightly, so you might not have to worry about it :) |
Awesome man! Thanks for confirming my suspicions...
|
good find... thanks for the info
|
I use grease on any friction point. Especially around bushings.
|
omg this is so good to hear. my ss-p squeak like a pig in distress. im going to try it tomorrow...
|
good to know! sweet find on the DIY. I'll be putting in a set in a couple weeks! autox here i come!

So, you guys used the lithium greese? My Yaris' left-rear coilover is squeaking a lot, and I need to lube up the top and bottom rubber mounts, but want to make sure I get the right greese.
|
Yeah man, I ended up going with the Lithium grease for my SSP's. Worked like a charm!
|
Where can the lithium grease be purchased from? When applying the lithium grease, all you have to do is just apply it around the pillowball mounts and that should stop the squeeking noise?

i love the write up, but i hate how they called the front endlink the tie rod.... its not a tie rod... (8 pics down for the people that dont know what a tie rod is haha)

How To Install TEIN Coilovers on a Scion TC - My Pro Street Thanks guys |
I have these coils and love the low they give my tc, I didnt have to use after market camber arms and I didnt use wheel spacers. As with any suspension hardening mod, it will be a jolding ride during city driving, especially in new england.
