Ways to revive rusty coilovers?
Does anyone have any solutions on how to remove surface rust from coilovers? My biggest concern is that the coilovers have plenty of rust on the threads. It's preventing me from adjusting the collar/locking nut. I'm looking for a good solution to getting these clean again:
If you have any remedies that have worked in the past, please share them with me!

I used Coke. Sounds stupid but it worked. Bought a huge bucket, bought a couple liters of coke, dropped the parts that were rusted in, let it soak for a couple of hours, came out brand new looking. Maybe try that CLR stuff too.

So before I kill my coilovers with Coca-Cola, I want to make sure I do this right. Check my MS Paint diagram.
So if I submerge the red box section of the coils in Coke, should the coilover housing be sealed well enough in the green circle to prevent any water.. err.. Coke damage? This is new to me so hear me out.
