Who makes the TRD brake kit?

Is there someone who has a link or has solid evidence to show who makes it? Just want to make sure because I don't want a slap in the face so to speak from lack of knowledge.

stoptech

tico4csun 08-17-2010 03:18 AM

Damn, wondering if I should buy the stage 2 kit then and just paint my calipers red and slap TRD. Not sure if that takes away from trophy points etc away due to theme... Thinking...

emptystreets130 08-17-2010 05:10 AM

^^^ unfortunately, that how TRD USA operates. They'll paint it their color and slap a TRD decal.

AcidDrop 08-17-2010 05:18 AM

yes stoptech is who makes them but instead of buying the stage2 kit, your better off saving and really buying the trd bbk if that's what you really want and want to get "more show points" since no one really has a bbk in the show scene except for just drilled/slotted rotors and painted calipers...

Thanks for the info guys. Prolly taking the cheapy crappy route. I don't like the idea of paying $1350 with labor included to get a trophy. Plus adding rear rotors and painting those calipers and slappin a TRD sticker. And I prolly won't get the stop techs anyway. I'll see what my mechanic recommends since he orders parts of this sort. Figure I'll do this more for me and partially for a trophy but for WAY cheaper.

gotta pay to play...

uhm... big brake kit > stoptech stage 2

its like buying lowering springs and struts for 600 instead of getting a coilover kit for 1000... later you gonna realize that you should have buy the better stuff.

GQQSE13 08-17-2010 11:45 AM

trdsparks has it for like1099 and you could prob install yourself; i believe only difficult part from what i've read is break line install/making sure all air is out of the lines

tico4csun 08-17-2010 05:46 PM

I don't race. I won't regret it.

Ro_Ja 08-17-2010 06:34 PM

I wouldn't even go as far as saying that brake kit would actually perform on the track. It's just for show. The rotors included in it are paper thin.

I hope your referring to looks and not performance...because the way a bbk performs vs an upgrade like the stage 2 is completely different.

I can order you brand new calipers, have them powder coated and that will be a touch more official.

im sorry.. you are saying that the stoptech 2 performs better than a BBK?1?!?

what is said is bbk is better than any brake pad and rotor upgrade.

XIEmperorIX 08-19-2010 04:49 AM

my bad dude I misread your post haha I just looked back and was like wtf?

got the < > wrong...:P

although tbh I don't think the BBK would do you much good unless your pushing a lot of power and upgraded your brake master cylinder to a large one that can move more fluid.

tico4csun 08-19-2010 08:57 AM

Nope no turbo or supercharge. Maintenance costs ain't worth it.
