Autocrossers, Road racers...
Was wondering what size wheels you guys are running?
Im thinkin of trying to get into autocross or even road racing, right now my wheels are 17 x 7.5. I know i would be able to go out to at least an autocross event as a completely stock car, but still wondering wat the average size wheel is being run.
Thanks

Its all about the rule book. First decide if you want to be competitive or not. Or if you are just doing it for the totoal fun of it.
Then go to SCCA.ORG and review the Hstock rules. That will tell you what size tire you can run. Then if you decide you want to mod it, see what class you will end up in.
A word of caution, outside of H-Stock it takes a nicely done up car to compete, and a good driver.

Awesome thanks for the input!!....
Right now Im running 17 x 7.5 with a 225/45/17 falken fk452. I want to start off really for just fun and get some experience.
But I will check the website. I was thinkin of dropping the wheel size to maybe a 15, 16" wheel, but just wondering if that could be beneficial or just would be another one of my crazy thought up ideas, lol

If you go to a dot approved racing compound tire, and lite weight wheels it will be beneficial, but by changing the size of the rim, you will no longer be in the stock class. So unless you do other mods, you will be far from the front. but autocross is about fun, so to me it wouldnt matter. My class pits me against highly modded STIs, EVOs, and the such. I get my butt handed to me, but its worth it. Been awhile since I have raced tho. I think my last autocross (in my car) was in 06
Usually ran my dads car when with him. SVO Mustang ran pretty darn good.

Ok, I see....Yea I have no problems running against higher classes.....Id rather be last in a higher class then then kill at the stock class.
I have fun bolt-ons right now, no dynos yet, but I have my plans for engine performance too, especially after my buddies and I get at it, lol
Do you guys know anything about the "club trials" level for club racing? That was something else I was looking at, I understand the first level is SDX, then club.
But at the same time I couldn find any real rules against stock or different wheel sizes due to it being pretty much a time attack...
Thanks for the input guys, this is something Ive really wnated to learn about but never asked...
Edit: I just looked up more on solo road racing, and I realized I that is a lil much for me right, lol...so autocross is what I am lookin at. I can find out about autocross events and the different class rules on scca.org??
