Exclamation LUG NUTS - Got Torque?

Hi Everybody,
Just got back from having a Tire Store, part of a Chain here in the NorthEast, replace all 4 tires on my Scion xB (2005).
On the drive back there was a bit of a jiggle in the steering wheel.

At home, I went to check the Torque on the Lug Nuts.(Manual say it should be @ 76.5 ft. Lbs)
I COULD NOT LOOSEN ANY OF THEM!!!!!
Needed a breaker bar in addition to my large 4 way tire iron AND a LOT OF ARM MUSCLE to get them loose.

Imagine if I had been stuck somewhere with a flat with only the stock tire iron in the car !!!!

PS: Jiggle in the steering wheel is now gone. ;)

Overtorquing lug nuts should not cause a vibration.. but if they sent them without the wheel being properly centered then you would certainly feel a vibration.

This is pretty common of most shops though. I always ask them to install by hand if they have to do it.

I know the feeling. My local wheel alignment shop likes to get down with the impact wrench. I broke two lugs attempting to undo their latest torture. Four nuts were too stretched to reuse. smh
