Default The Time Has Come for New Tires

So, I need new tires. My Kumho Ecsta AST's lasted me 40,000 miles but are now down to 1/32 left. With the amount of rain here in the PNW I need something that will help me down the road safely. With that being said, I want a tire that is beefier than the 215/45/17 that Toyota put on the cars in the factory. Has anyone gone with a bigger tire? I want to here from you! What are the do's and don'ts, what have you had success with, what have you had failure with? I'm just tired of the low profile tires that are suggested for the car, I feel like they wear way too quickly.

Suggestions on "beefier" tires for the tC?

sounds like you want all-season tires.

i went to 225/45/17 and so did a lot of others. i did it mainly because it was actually cheaper then the 215s...also slightly better grip and rim protection.
i wouldnt go past 235 on stock though.

You could run a 225/45/17 if you wanted a little more sidewall, but if you are still stock height, you could do a 215/50/17 even. It would mess with the speedo a little bit, but will make for a much smoother ride.

i know it's been a month since anyone replied.. but have you thought of the Nitto Motivo tires? I've used them and they're excellent, great ride, lots of grip, not bad at all for a so-called "all season" and i think they come in the bigger 225/45-17 size. I've been really impressed with them the last couple of months.

oh did i mention it's a 60,000 mile tire?! and z-rated!
