Tire pressure light won't go out
My daughter has an '09 tC and the tire pressure light is on. I checked the tire pressure and they were all at 34 psi. I took it to my buddy's shop and he hooked it up to his computer. All the sensors registered so he reset them. The light went out, but now 4 days later, it's back on. I tried pressing the button in the glovebox and holding it down, but absolutely nothing happens. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Could be a sensor going bad or not sending a signal to the computer, try releasing the air down below 20 psi as quickly as possible in each tire then after you are done with that air them back up to the recommended setting with the key in the on position then try to press the reset button again. The releasing of the air will activate the sensors if they aren't responding well and usually that will fix it. If that doesnt solve it then one of the sensors has to be going bad

We bought the car from a Nissan dealer where I work. They put on 4 new tires, and told me I needed to take it to a Toyota dealer to get the light reset. I know the sensors are in there because they all registered when my buddy hooked it up to the Snap On scanner.
When you say let the air out of the tires down to 20 psi, do you mean one at a time, or should I let the pressure out on all four down to 20 psi and then fill them all up? The key needs to be in the on position while I'm filling them?

I looked at the screen real quick after my buddy said they were registering, so I only saw the id numbers. I'm not sure if the actual pressure was showing up on the screen. I'm assuming the actual pressure should be on the screen along with the id numbers?

They should be but if one has been replaced it might still have the old id number in the system if thats the case. But i dont know what the Snap-On scanners show since we use a Toyota scantool at the dealer

Should I try your suggestion of letting the pressure out to 20 psi?

It wouldn't hurt to try it, sometimes its possible that a sensor will go into a sleep mode and letting the air out quickly will usually "wake" the sensor up. If that doesn't work then its possible that a sensor could of been damaged or cracked during the installation of the new tires. Its hard to tell because i dont know all what the snap on scantools show

You have to hold the reset button until the light blinks 3 times - if you don't, and just hold it until the light goes out, it will come on again after driving a few miles.
