Default A-Pillar Blackout

Hi evryone,

I am new to the forum and just bought my tC2G less than a month ago.

I have a few things planned for it, most of which are simple for now as I blew most of my money on the car and need some time to recover...

...but anyway, I wanted to hear from anyone who has removed the black A-Pillar tape on their tC, I wanted to make sure that it is already painted to match the car underneath it and then what the best way to remove it would be since I obviously do not want to mar up the paint on my brand new car

I am hoping that as long as I can cleanly get it started it will just kinda peel off, but I also doubt that it will be that easy since nothing ever is, so just a quick heads up from anybody who may have done this already would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The tape on your a-pillar is vinyl, and it is painted underneath.

I have an xB2, and to remove mine, I relied heavily on the Jacksonville, FL sunshine. Also, I used a hairdryer and heated up areas that I was working on and slowly peeled it away. Then I used isopropyl alcohol and 3M adhesive remover (the kind that comes in a pen) to remove any residual adhesive.

Here's the only picture I have of the front of my xB (on the right). Just imagine the a-pillars blacked out like yours are currently:

Honestly, I regret that I peeled them now because of the theme that I'm going toward on my xB. But your tC will look great with that vinyl peeled away.

Good luck. It is a PITA to remove the vinyl, but it looks great removed.

Just take your time. Removing it too fast will cause it to split and once it splits next to the wind shield, its a big pain. Remember to regrab after you get a substantial amount pulled and don't pull outward, but down in the direction you are peeling from.

Thank you for the advise guys...this is going to be a quick project of mine along with my sub here in the next few days...

...My tC is Nauticle Blue so I dont know how much of a difference this is going to make to most people looking at the car...but i simply can not stand them and they have to come off.

Post some pics up please when you do this.
I'm curious to see how tC2 looks like without that blackout.
One of the reasons I chose black color was because I didn't like that blackout (blackout can't blackout the black car :p).
I didn't know that blackout can be removed.

WellesleyScion has some great before and after pics of everything he is doing to his machine and the white makes the a-pillar mod all the more noticeable.

We did it to my wife's 11 xB and it looked 10x better. We spent a good amount of time removing the tape and both came out of the deal with sore fingers. So when I got my black tC2, I was relieved that I didn't have to go through that agony again.
