It does seem like we are getting somewhere with this though. I bet if a Canadian and an American were to swap relays (green for blue), the Canadian would have no DRLs and perfectly functioning dim function. The American would have DRLs and a perfectly functioning dim function.

You can buy the part here...

http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/t...642-47020.html

A bit pricey but if you really want it...

I never got the chance to remove the relay and test the DRLs and Dim. It's too tight, I did not bring my pliers and it's damn cold.

Apparently they also use it for the Yaris as they do in the Scion.
"Toyota Yaris 2013
9098704010 - Relay ENGINE COMPARTMENT, DRIVER SIDE, headlight dimmer"

hmmm. it says headlight dimmer. maybe if i remove it, it will not affect the dim feature of the interior lights.

can you also please check the part number of the one on top of the drl relay?
Because the diagram at the fuse box cover says "DEF". (defogger)

Curious as well. still wondering why US tC have this relay if the description says "Headlight Dimmer".

I've double checked and the DIM/DRL and DEF both have the same blue relay with the same part number in the USA tC fuse box.
Does anybody have an extra $160.00 to purchase a green relay used in the Canadian tC to experiment with the USA tC? I won't until I get paid in two weeks.

All it did when I pulled it was you heard a buzzing sound with the lights on, the DRL didn't come on and the high beams didn't work.

Buzzing coming from where? And just to be clear, you're American right?
