Default tC2.5 HID..Help

I know the HID topic has been talked about a lot on here in reference to the tC2.5. I'm running into issues now with a local shop and conflicting answers on which bulbs it currently has vs what i would buy for an HID kit. Does anyone know what the stock setup is.
(I have a 2015 tC) From what i can tell just by looking at it, it is a 'bi-xenon' style headlight. Meaning low beams and high beams are the same bulb. Is this true? and if that's the case, when purchasing an HID kit i wouldn't have to buy separately low and high beam bulbs with a Bi-Xenon kit 'cause they are the same bulb correct?

Any info would be greatly appreciated

You are correct, it is a single bulb and single filament for high and low beam. The bulb is a HIR2 or 9012 however as far as I know there are no (or at least very few) 9012 hid kits. A 9006 hid kit will fit with a slight trimming of one locking tab on the bulb. You only need the one kit.

Thanks for the info. Do you know anything about a DRL harness. My local shop also quoted 2 of these in their final quote. As far as i understand this is used to
control the power to your DRL's as most cars use their high beams with lower power outputs as their daytime running lights.
From what it looks like with the tC2.5 the DRLs are actually the turn signal lights. (yellow bulbs towards the centre of the car) If this is correct wouldn't I not need a DRL Harness?

You will not need a daytime running light harness. You will need the ballasts and maybe a relay. Depending on the kit you could also need some sort of harness, but not for the DRL's as they do run on the front signals.
