Yellow Fogs

Hey guys I was thinking about putting in yellow fog lights. Should I go with 3000k HID's or just get yellow halogen bulbs?

deviant_tc 10-21-2014 12:42 AM

i went with 3000K HIDs with a translucent yellow vinyl overlay.

If I get clear lenses will it still look yellow with 3000k HIDs? How's the visibility with them? Do they help you see better?

Yes to the yellow witrout the overlay, no to the helping you see better. It just looks cool ;)

i could drive around in complete darkness with just the fog lights and see fine. just depends if you want fog lights or driving lights. white or yellow are both used for fog, but the yellow reflects off wet roads less for me and my eyes are already sensitive enough to light as it is. so for me personally it's easier to see. i may even at some point try some 5000k with the overlay to see if they get brighter but still keep the yellow tint enough to dull the reflection.

Oh ok. But I should have no problem fitting HID's into the fog light housing right?

deviant_tc 10-22-2014 01:44 PM

no, as long as you get the right bulb type. they're H11's.

i was gettin mad cause my 3000K kept looking green, i tried a 35W and 55W ballast and found out 55W was waaay too hot for the fog housing..i think the yellow overlay is the best option in terms of yellow fogs and protection against debris

deviant_tc 10-24-2014 12:56 PM

you'll be fine with 35w with overlays. 3000k will look green up close but yellow far away. with overlays, mine is a pretty intense yellow beam.

CommuterTC 10-30-2014 05:57 AM

Where did you get the overlay?

deviant_tc 10-30-2014 07:08 AM

eBay. just got a 12x24" sheet.

CommuterTC 10-30-2014 10:29 AM

Any particular vendor? I see a bunch. I might try the amber....what do you think about amber?

deviant_tc 10-30-2014 10:51 AM

seller: hiddistributor

SoKrispy 10-31-2014 06:15 AM

Hey dude are those OEM fog lights? Im planning to install those on my tc. How did you do the wiring? Thanks!

deviant_tc 10-31-2014 12:47 PM

they are not OEM however made to OEM spec. you can find them on ebay. i wired them up independent so they can be on by themselves, with high beams, whatever.

Is it possible to wire them together with the dlr leds? So it will light up with the park lights? Where is the switch if you wired them independently?

deviant_tc 11-01-2014 01:36 AM

you can splice them into the parking lights yes.

the kit comes with a rocker switch that fits in just like the OEM switch would. i have them powered directly to the battery, and the switch to an accessory wire. instead of hooking them up onto the stock harness where they only come on with the headlights and turn off when the high beams are on, i can have them on by themselves when the key is switched on.
