Default 2012 tC auto transmission reprogram

I was discussing this in the tC2 lounge and I wanted to just give you guys a heads up on what I am trying to do today in a couple of hours.

For the few of you that have a tC2 automatic from 2011-2013. The dealership where I bought my car is going to try and reprogram/upload the 2014 automatic transmission program so that my 2012 will have the dynamic rev matching and faster shifting like the 2014 comes programmed with.

The shop foreman agreed to reprogram it. Free if it doesn't work and $96.00 if it does. Basically he thinks if the software is available to him, it should work since the transmission in the 2014 is physically the same unit.

I'll post an update later today. Cheers.

Unfortunately when I arrived the dealership got cold feet and decided they didn't want to even attempt. The manager said he's about 90% sure it would work but the risk was too much he said for them. Said it could possibly brick the ecu.

Good news is another dealership is going to attempt it next week.

Good stuff. I know the TCM can be reprogrammed/reflashed. I have a spare that i'll be sending out when I send for my auto trans to get rebuilt. Subscribed.

So is the TCM what the OP was referring to in the first place or was it something different?

I assume so. The transmission control module. OP can you confirm this? From what I was told, that is what controls the shifts.

I would assume there would have to be an ECU aspect as well in order to control the engine rev matching...

Dealership seemed to think it would be through the main ecu. I'll let you guys know for sure by next week.

4 dealers shot me down so far. Last 2 were worried it would potentially disable the car. A couple techs thought it was possible.

Was worth a shot I suppose. No luck. Not really a big deal. I was just curious.

Did anyone ever get their dealership to flash the 2014 ECU or transmission firmware? I'd like to have this done on my car if it is possible. It's been a few weeks since anyone has posted in here, so I'm just checking in to see if it's doable or not.

I went to 3 different dealerships with my old car. All said no. 1 said it was possible but not willing to attempt. Id go with slim chance from 1st hand experience I had. And I'm pretty tight with my main dealer because of the business I've done/do with them.
