3.5l V6 in a 2011 Scion tC? V8?
1 Attachment(s)
I was on another forum and there was a build that stuffed a 3.3L V6 in a 1st Gen Scion tC. Has anyone thought about doing this to a 2nd gen but with a 3.5L Camry V6?
Anyone know what the cost would be to do a mod like this if i had a used engine and used standard trans? or how about a V8? Let me know what you think about this. Thanks. links: 1. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...ght=3.3l+v6+tc 2. 3.5L V6 specs: Engine & Performance

Would be super easy and cheap, just get the engine and transmission out of a Lotus Evora, and your almost done. but why stop there? why not get the Supercharged Lotus Evora engine? that would be hella sweet.
Engine swapping in Toyotas and Scions are expensive and difficult and full of headaches. if you just want to unique Scion, then yes, very few people swap the engines from other Toyotas, and the ones they do use are usually older ones with fewer electronics in the way like engine immobilizers and older ECU's. doing it with newer platforms and engines gets harder. If you just want power, then get a Turbo. if you want cheap power...get Nitrous set-up...until you blow something up. |
Mad props to you if you can do it. V-8 gets more cool points, but a V-6 would be plenty in this car.

Should of just bought a V6

Thanks drax didn't know that!

^a twin turbo V6 lol. Many(ok maybe not many, some) have come in and asked about doing engine swaps and then nothing happens. Don't let this be added to that list, get it done.

Heck if i won the lotto i would trade this car in for the Scion FR-S and then do an engine swap for a strong V6. I wonder if i stuck a V6 from a Subaru?
|
Wouldn't you buy something else if you won the lotto? :|
|
Nope because that way I can pay this car off, rent an apartment n pay for college instead of being in debt. The left over cash I will just save.

IDK how you can pull off a FWD V* unless you use an old torino drive train....going RWd would be rough too!
|
know what. if i won the lotto. Mid engine Twin Turbo RWD 2011 Scion tC.

While it sounds nice, it'll be a headache like Drax said. That is even after you get all the custom-welding out of the way?!
Can it be done, sure. But do you want to ruin the driveability (and legal status) of your car for the sake of having a unique whip? WARNING, I'm gonna say the "H" word- Even easy swaps like Acura motors into Hondas often run in to trouble; & this ain't even like that. IMO, starting with a similar motor (I4) will make things much easier. However the 2.4 & 2.5 are pretty stout motors, and that there's plenty of drivetrain options open in the way of FI and FWD/RWD/AWD to customize. |

This is a very good example of how hard to swap engines in modern cars. I've posted it before, but seriously, look at how hard and expensive it is to swap the engine from a Mazdaspeed3 into Mazda5 which is actually a very similar platform. Hell, the Mazda5 even uses basically the same engine as the Mazdaspeed3, just a non-turbo version. |
