Anyone having this A/C noise?
2012 tC
MILES: 16,400
I don't know if this is normal but I recently noticed a squeak noise when my A/C has been running for a while. The noise comes when the A/C clutch starts to cycle.
The noise goes away when I turn off the A/C. I noticed this about 2 weeks ago and the noise still remains the same.
Has anyone else here experienced this with their tC2?

I haven't been to the dealer yet because the noise doesn't really bother me too much since its not obnoxiously loud, its more of a very low whine rather than a squeak. I just wanted to know if this is normal on these cars or if anyone has taken the time to get out the car, pop the hood and listen for any noises.

So...update, I went to the stealer and this is what they told me.
1) the AC line that runs over the belt drips water and causes the scissor noise.
the young boy who worked as a tech there said he will greese the belt to make the
noise go away. FAIL! PROBLEM NOT SOLVED
2) 2 weeks later i went back for the oil change and they checked the noise again.
This time they blamed it on the 35W HID kit. Tech states that the HID kit is causing overload on the alternator and causes the noise. FAIL AGAIN! LOL DAM ROOKIES.
I am 100% sure its the A/C compressor clutch making the noise but the wierd thing is that my A/C blows cold immidiately.
Please guys. turn on your a/c and drive the car for a while and let me know if you guys hear the same noise. Its like 2 scissos grinding each other really fast LOL not the Lesbo scissors btw

They put grease on the belt? I've never had this issue, I am at 30k and recently drove from PA to TX and noticed the hose does get rather wet and drippy but haven't had issues with it squeaking, even going through states with different humidity levels. Does it sound like a belt squeal?

I would have disconnected the HIDs right in front of the mechanic if they came at me with some bull____ answer like that. That explanation just blows my mind.
And sorry man, I have close to 60k on my car and I don't hear any odd noises from underneath my hood.

Could possibly be the compressor. If you have records stating you brought this issue to the attention of a dealer and then it fails after warranty is over you may have a case.

A/c
When I turn off AC it goes away. I just had my belt changed and the only thing it helped with is the shaking and blowing colder air than bf. Otherwise when I got home I heard the same noise again which is frustrating.
If anyone figures it out please lmk, Thanks!

I have a 2015 tC with the same issue, bought the car with 65k on it and didn't notice the noise at all, soon after I purchased the vehicle, I noticed this noise at low speed and at a dead stop. I attend a trade school where I learn auto mechanics and i'm going to try to use a stethoscope to see if the sound is coming from the AC compressor. Have you resolved the issue since?
