Default ATF process on tC2?

1. Where is the overfill drain plug at the bottom near the pan?

2. Unlike any of the previous scions, there isnt an ATF fluid dipstick nor is there a sensor at the top of the tranny to remove to refil the fluid. So where do you fill the fluid in?

I did see a little removable tube going down to the tranny with a small plastic cap that had the letter A on it. I have no idea what that is. Don't know if this is a new method to refilling the fluid.

Don't suppose out of the 200 viewers of this thread perhaps someone has some form of connection with a Toyota service manual or a mechanic that would be willing to share the process?

Can't see people with Automatics with a Gen2 avoiding the thought of cycling out the transmission oil.

Hey Oblivion
I don't work as a toyota tech, but i may be able to get info for you from the software we use where I'm employed.
It seems odd that there isn't even a dipstick there but Ansin may have been looking to cut costs or some other ludicrous thing/reason.

I'll get back to you later on, hopefully i can dig something up.

So now knowing the transmission model number I was able to go on google and find a DIY for it. Apparently its really complex to the point where you need to bring it into the shop. Quite lame so dealerships can grab more money out from you.

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/10...lush-pics.html

Thats the thread. The U760E procedure is near the bottom of the DIY pics. Its nothing straightforward as traditional methods go by draining then refilling. Now you have to have the trany at a certain temp inorder for fluid to pour out at a steady stream.

"Light dripping or heavy flow is a sign of an underfilled or overfilled transmission. When the desired flow rate is reached reinstall the fill and inspection plugs and tighten"

That is just BS.

I found the most informative method to doing the ATF change for the U760E transmission that's on the Gen2's. It's specifically for the Gen2's.

Here it is...

Also get a Techstream from here so you can get a readout of the temp...

You can get the up to date software for the Techstream from here which is compatible with 64bit Windows which in the Amazon ratings people were criticizing how it has no 64bit support. Now it does....

I'm going to attempt to do this on my own and save $210 which was the quote at the dealership. Also If you have to change out the CV Axles then you should know how to do this process on your own just for the sake of the matter since it's quite common on lowered vehicles being that it puts more stress on the CV Axles. You'll have to drain out the trany each time you switch out the axles. You really dont want to pay $200 each time.

After more thorough research, a DIY at home is best when the car is cold and only driven around the block getting things up to a warm state where it's not at normal operating temps which can reach 180F+. You 'can' use the tutorial on toyota nation to conduct the ATF flush if the car is cold and driven around a block or so. However if you are like me and sometimes like to do work immediately when you get home after a long drive, say CV Axles which have to have a ATF oil drain, then you'll need the actual Toyota Servicing tools to get proper overflow leveling since normal temps will make the ATF oil expand beyond the overflow tube inside the pan.

This is a tutorial of how to use the Toyota servicing equipment for the u760e transmission on all Gen2 Scion TC2....

These are the prices for the tools as of the posting of this message. They aren't listed on the website. They only offer prices when you call.
