TRD Dyno Test:
Tony at SVS Dyno who calibrated, set-up, and Tested my car both times. 1st with the Stock intake and 2nd when I return with the TRD Intake.
He averaged 3 pulls each time to get the Dyno results.
Yes, I Know that the TRD Cold Air Intake is One of the Most Pricey Intakes.
The Reasons I went with the TRD CAI:
1. Does Not Impact the New Car Warranty.
2. 100% C.A.R.B. Legal
3. 50 State Emissions Compliant
4. You can obtain the Emissions Compliance Label.
5. Simple bolt-on Install. 35-45 mins.
6. Works with the factory ECU system. No CEL codes.
7. Economical. Scion recommends Repl. Air Filter every 30k.
The TRD High Performance Filter is checked at 50k and is washable
8. Best Bang for the Buck. Increase in Hp and Torque. Your Results may Vary.
I will let the Numbers Speak for Themselves.

the inlet tube looks very similar to the stock one, is it a denser material to withstand the higher airflow or is the same exact one, just red?
if thats the case im literally just going to get the top cover, I already have the trd snorkel and a K&N filter, so the bigger cover should allow the car to suck in more air anyway, anyway to save a buck of course.

No, it is Different. It's made of Red Silicone. It's thicker, larger to fit the larger nozzle. It is also at a different angle than the stock one.
If you try and fit the TRD Airbox to the stock inlet it is a mismatch because it is too small to fit around the larger nozzle.
Here are the Official TRD CAI Install Procedure with item list:

It's a "true" cold-air intake because of Item #1 the TRD Air Horn (Snorkle Inlet Tube)
extending down towards behind the front bumper drawing Cold Air in. See Diagram above ▲▲ LOOK UP! ▲▲

I had a 2014 with an Injen CAI and it threw CEL's like a mother bastard. After replacing the MAF (mass airflow sensor) the second time, it stopped throwing the CEL's, but it didn't run any better, and I actually think it was worse.
Sounded good, but (and I'm aware the gains on any CAI are/may/whatever be placebo) the mileage tanked and it just didn't feel.... right.... Like it wasn't shifting properly (automatic), was idling REALLY low (500rpm w/ a warm engine).
I picked up a 2016 tC last week and I'm thinking I won't put the Injen back in....

Also helps me when I'm at the Middle Lane at the light and I need to get over to the right after the light.
According to the dash computer my Combined MPG went down 1 MPG from 26 MPG to 25 MPG.
Giving up 1 MPG to get a little more Low End works for me.
