Dam. Catless header + axle back would of been about same as my catback alone lol. O well. Catback will be good if I ever go turbo.

paul_dezod 06-10-2014 05:35 PM

What most novice modders don't realize is that mods work together and do not compound power. For example an intake, header and exhaust don't add 25whp despite the manufacturer boasting 5whp for the intake 10 for the header and 10 for the exhaust. If you add ONE of these items to a stock car, it should show the manufacturer boasted power levels, however adding all of these mods together might add about 15whp overall. The motor is an air pump. Better easier breathing in and out will yield it operating more efficiently.

Well to a point. Most have said if you don't have at least 1 cat (or something to create some back pressure) you'll actually lose some power. Unless your turbo. Then that goes out the window and you'll gain massive power from having no resistance.

Back pressure is a thing of the past to an extent. Of course running no exhaust at all versus running some header and cat-back, the header and such will allow the car to make torque easier (power below 5250rpms). So with that being said, that little bit of added back pressure there does you justice in the way of TQ. However it's all about terminal velocity of the air exiting the setup. Too fast acts like a reversion on it's self and causes a bottle neck (too small of tubing). Too large of tubing slows airflow down too much and it lingers in the exhaust until you are moving enough velocity (higher rpms) to vacate it all. At that point, she opens right up and makes a burst of high end power. This is the common phenom spoken about.

If for example, the car is setup one way with a catless header and the other with a catted header with all other things being created equal (same intake, same exhaust etc) then the catless header will have less backpressure than the catted header due to the lack of restriction from the cat. One less firing hoop you are making your lazy exhaust gas jump through.

I hope this clarifies things.

With a well engineered header and exhaust combo a completely elevated power curve should be present meaning that you increased the VE of the engine. This is what we did with our green and red headers. Took our knowledge of the engine and put it to good use.

We can reuse the old head gasket correct?
Would you mind explaining how the defouler/check engine light eliminater works and installs?

Trying to decide if I think this would be too insanely loud with my ark grip system or not, sounds amazingly loud with the trd and the ark on a whole different level, anyone have a pairing of the two yet?

Exhaust manifold gasket is reused, yes.

Legally speaking, I can't say how it's installed, but I will say that it does not belong on the header itself. :lalala:

I am pretty sure someone has that pair.....the FB groups are more active with this type of request.

Does anyone have this with a stock exhaust system? i have it with a s -Pipe and magnaflow exhaust and it just sounds loud and raspy

Does anyone have different results?

I have stock s pipe, trd exhaust and I had to weld a Magnaflow resonator in. Before it sounded raspy, now it sounds perfect, no rasp. Resonator was 115.00 installed at a local muffler shop. He did have a Toyota resonator for 75 installed though.

Good luck

CONCRETETC 07-26-2014 02:57 AM

I had the weapon-r cat less header with stock exhaust and it sounded like sheet...to raspy. I'll save for the dezod green to go with my trd exhaust.

paul_dezod 07-28-2014 04:33 PM

A lot of people like our header with the TRD exhaust.

Joelerz 07-30-2014 05:55 AM

For anyone still wondering i have a s-pipe with and these catless headers that use to sound really loud and raspy like a civic (not that anything is wrong with that)
I installed a no name resonator and it sounds great back to about as quiet as it was before the header install.

paul_dezod 07-30-2014 12:46 PM

The proper use of the correct resonators can really make an exhaust. Thanks for sharing.

Does it include install if I were to drive down from Toronto? :)

No, because as of Jan 1 of this year, we ceased doing install work. Not to mention, I am sure you can manage doing the 7 bolt 30 min install yourself. Plus, a local pickup adds 8.75% sales tax to your tab too.
