Default Flowmaster Force 2 series exhaust

I have just purchased this for my TC2 and will be installing it when it arrives. I found it at autoanything.com for $319 and free shipping after a 20% coupon code. This make this easily the best deal on a TC exhaust bolt on. If anyone is interested in how it sound let me know and I will try to make a video for you.

That does sound really good, looks like a great product. Though $320 is pretty much the going rate for a bolt on axle back of any brand other than TRD.

are the megan racing axlebacks cheaper? you can also get the TRD axleback for cheaper than this flowmaster if you get one used, but you need to really look around.
Also Borla makes one that is also very expensive.

the flowmaster one does sound good.

You must have a hook up I don't then. I've been pricing the exhausts for the last month and the Flowmaster and the DC are the only two I found in the $350 price range. I had a TRD Exhaust on my TCG1 but never did really like the tone at idle. Thought I would try something different this time. Especially since the TRD cost $550-$650 new. Never did like buying used parts.

Megan axlebacks are cheaper with the polished tip. about the same with the burned tip. Thing is I don't know what they sound like. Also, they dont look to be street legal. Since my wife drives the car more than me I dont want the "I just got a ticket" phone call for a $300-$400 part.

good call, but if they aren't too loud then noone would complain. we'll have to wait until someone gets it and posts a sound clip..

What was wrong with the TRD tone at idle? too quiet?

I said anything but the TRD is the same price. The TRD is retarded expensive. $320 is basically fair for an axle back in my opinion. $500 or more should get you a cat back. I'm not sure what the laws are where you live, here it just cant be straight through, e.g. it has to have baffles. I like the look of the megan but I haven't heard one and the flowmaster does sound really nice.

I actually got the exhaust last weekend. Installed it and noticed the fit was a bit off at the bolts. I started the car to at least listen to how it sounded and check for leaks. Well it sounded awesome but the weld at the flange was broken and leaking. Also was bent at other end of pipe and had a dent in the muffler itself. Obviously had been dropped by someone. Off it came and back in the box. Called flowmaster and they agreed to send another but since it was Christmas week, it wont be sent until the week of New Years. So..... I am on a holding pattern and this is "to be continued."

any axle back are street legal..when you start messing around with the cats...then it becomes not street legal....i have a full megans exhaust on my 1st gen tc,no cats or resonators..very loud but nice loud and non-ricey..but im also boosted which is a whole other playing field...sounds similar to a boxer motor..

You could be right, however this is posted in the disclaimer all over Megan's website: NOTE: All Megan Racing Exhaust and Suspension products are deemed for "off-road use only"

This was in the disclaimer for the Tc's axle back kit as well as everything else they sell. There are noise ordinances everywhere and smog ordinances in many places.

speaking of ordinances, would we get into trouble if we put on any catback systems on our cars? the catback would replace our second cat, and I just want to know if police would look at that or if it would affect emissions and the car would not pass inspection?

I see tons of people with tsudo or something similar on their car, would they be able to pass inspection like that? (assuming they have the first cat as either a stock header or dezod's header).

I would think most are not street legal. If they are the manufacturer will put that in the description in most cases. Anything that causes you CEL to stay on is not street legal and will not pass inspection. Some states also do yearly inspections to make sure all parts on the car are CARB certified. If they aren't you have to strip them off. I think California is one of those states. I do not think a police officer would pull you over and check unless the car is so loud it gets his/her attention, however.

Also, like I said earlier, I am not going to put my wife in a situation where she could have a bad day with the law. It's not worth it to buy a product like an exhaust that has "off road use only" plastered on it and take the chance. If I drove the car I probably wouldn't care too much. That and the fact that I live in a subdivision.......with my driveway facing another house.....that has a city police officer living there....that works night shift....and goes to bed about the time my wife leaves to go to work. That police officer MAYcrawl under my car to see whats up if I ____ him off. lol. Like I said, not worth it to me.

Megan makes a mid pipe that would work.

It is installed, but bolt on in minutes my ___. I did have to modify the mid pipe a hair to get it to work. Cut about 1/4 inch of the mid pipe off at end to get the flowmaster and mid pipe's flanges to meet flush. Does sound good though. Will post clip later.

The stock cat back pipe was flared inside the welded on flange to be more forgiving when the mid pipe slid in. The flowmaster's pipe was not and was just curling the pipes when I attempted to bolt them together. Oh well. It's installed and I did not see any leaks when I tested it.

test by pouring water on the flange and look for spitting water/ listen for a hiss.
that's how i heard an exhaust leak at the axleback flange on my TRD when i first installed it - it was on a wet day.
