Grinding noise when shifting from 2nd to 3rd only
I'm having a bit of a problem with my 2011 tC. I have the manual and when I shift from second to third it makes a weird grinding noise. It doesn't sound like the transmission is grinding it sounds more like the shifter cables or something in that area underneath the shifter. It only does it when up shifting and I've found that if I just wait like an extra split second before pushing it up into third it won't make the noise. Also if I double clutch it there is no noise. It doesn't do it when downshifting into third. I should also mention that I have a TWM Short shifter and cable bushings installed and I didn't notice any noise until after I installed the cable bushings and it wasn't right away it was like a week later it started the noise.
Does it sound like my third gear synchro could already be bad? car only has like 12,000 miles. If it is a synchro is the dealer going to give me a hard time if I don't put the stock shifter back on first? Has anyone else had this problem?

1st, yes the dealer would void your warranty because of the short shifter. So b4 you take it in, remove it. 2nd I myself don't have a ss but I read on here somewhere that someone had the same thing going on and they took off the cable bushing and it went away.. So try that first
The dealer is unlikely to have any concern with the short shifter. In fact, they might not even notice, as long as you have the stock shift ****. I don't see any possible way for the short shifter to have had any impact on what you're describing.
