The Input Shaft Bearing Problem

Soooo my 2011 tC has started making that lovely supercharged noise. The manual transmission only made it to 34,000 miles.

I'm looking at a couple options. I have my eyes on a replacement transmission with a bit higher mileage. However it is not in a car so who knows if it might also have the same issue.

I'm wondering if any of you long time owners know how widespread this issue is. Are the manual 6-speed transmissions really this bad? There seem to be a lot of videos on YouTube.
I'm willing to fix it but I'm not willing to hold onto the car if I'm going to be plagued by the issue year after year.

Any info would be great.

I've heard a lot of the 11-13 guys having issues with their throwout bearing. They're relatively cheap and usually not awful to replace. Could definitely be a good place to start.

I recently purchased a Scion tC 2011 6speed Manual and my trans. has this same issue/noise ( Its a higher pitch wining like supercharger lol) My good friend who happens to be a master tech/mechanic told me the sound was the Throw Out Bering. Although he did not properly diagnose the vehicle and from what I've found from various Scion Forums/Videos it's the INPUT SHAFT or INPUT SHAFT BERING. Very common problem with 2nd generation tC's.

My question is besides the noise is it "bad" or "Dangerous" to drive with this issues?!? It's annoying as hell YES but Im kinda stuck with it this way until I find parts/labor

I had the issue last year. Sadly I waited too long and shredded the internals on my transmission thankfully tho it went out 2k miles before my extended warranty ran out and had it fixed by Toyota w/o spending money out of pocket. If I were you I would get it fixed ASAP.

Not sure if you have been to this site and added the problems you have had here. https://www.carcomplaints.com/Scion/...released.shtml
vary killer website to look up cars problems before you buy.

Amazingly this thread has 10K views, but has very little information, and no conclusion. Just goes to show how plentiful this problem is.
