Default K&N vs Takeda?

Takeda Cold Air Intake: Scion tC 2011 - 2015 (tC2)

gains of 11 HP & 11 torque.
Takeda CAI...or

69-8616TS - K&N Intake Kits, Performance Intake Kit

Gains: 6 HP & 6 Torque

I've yet to do anything to my car and I was curious which you guys think is best for the tC? I think I've seen a few posts about the Takeda.
I'm entirely new to upgrading cars and what not so feel free to throw in your advice.

I'm all ears

In reality you will see a gain of 0 HP for both. Go for which one meets your budget and makes the sounds you want. Me personally after blowing an engine in another car I would go with a short ram intake. Merely my opinion on the matter.

Stick with oem. Replace filter every 30k miles, cost 20 bucks. No real worries.

just a tip if you don't want to take off our bumper jack up the side of the car and stick the filter through the bottom lol. i struggled because my hydraulic fluid from my jack leaked out.

Hey quick question. I'm still learning about everything, being that I'm new to modding, and I'm curious if there are rules to getting car washes with a CAI? If I get a carwash will the intake be damaged?

P.S. Never mind me hahaha I did a little research and found the answer. All is good

Hey man did you have any issues installing this thing? My bro and I are trying to get it in and we have it all connected but when we try to connect the top portion with the lower portion that houses the filter, it keeps coming loose at the middle. Seems like the piping isnt long enough or the rubber portion isnt long enough. any tips?

I had an Injen short ram and it caused severe bogging in hot weather. I'd get a CAI and stay away from short rams. They are just noise. Especially since the tC cannot be tuned.

Questions are OK here. I have had a Injen Cold Air Intake since 2013. I been through storms and car washes. The filter sits about 18 inches off the ground. No Problems

CAI Filters are a bit more work to clean because they are harder to get to. But their is more than one way to access the compartment.

I am glad to see a new modder here. I don't see alot of members that I used to see online all the time; seems like others are going to stock. I love my car.

Welcome.

Only thing about CAI is don't go through puddles other than that you should be fine the suction from the CAI is press out through the whole filter doesn't necessarily mean it is close enough to the floor to suck up any water in it you should be fine just like I said try to avoid puddles

Don't worry about avoiding puddles. As long as you don't remove the fender liner inside the wheel well, you're perfectly safe. Back when I had my Takeda, I drove through whatever water I wanted (including Hurricane Sandy a few years back) and had zero issues.

I've since sold the Takeda and went back to stock because, like a few others have said, there is VERY little performance benefit.

Hey do you still have your Takeda? Was it really an 11hp gain? Any issues?

Thanks

No bolt on you install on this car will get you any real world gains. From a performance perspective, the car is as good as it gets in stock form. Only forced induction is going to give you more power.

Source: I owned a tC2 with plenty of bolt ons.
