possible exhaust leak on with my tsudo cat back..
so awhile back i was backing up and i hit my exhaust on like a low tree stump . i felt the bump and stopped.. got out and took a look at it no real visible damage.. but ever since then I've noticed a raspy sound to the exhaust tone and lately its gotten worse and even at idle its very raspy sounding near the middle of the car... is this a simple fix? or what? any help/suggestions would be great!
thanks,
thanks,
Depending on how you hit the stump and how the exhaust lined up with the stump will determine whether or not you caused damage underneath. If the exhaust was right lined up with the stump and hit it dead on, then there will not be damage at the tip, the next weakest point further towards the header S-Pipe/Mid-Pipe will crinkle or smash. But you'd have to moving with a decent amount of force. Not necessarily fast, but with force. So it would be natural that the damage would be underneath. My suggestion would be to actually crawl under your car and look. Not sure why you didn't do that right away when you hit the stump, let alone after you have been hearing the rasp, but definitely check that out. If you do have a hole or a crinkle, that will pretty much cost you the price of the exhaust. Having an exhaust place fix it will only ruin the integrity of the the Tsudo. I'd buy a whole new exhaust because I wouldn't want a repaired aftermarket one on my car, but that just me. If you do have them fix it, they will just cut the section that bad and weld in a new piece. That's it. Might run you anywhere from 100-200 dollars, but not much more. Good luck man. Look at what your backing up to next time, that's the responsibility you took on when getting an exhaust/being lowered/ect.
Sounds like you need a back up camera. Sorry to hear about the damage. 1 month to the day after I installed it, my NIA splitter was turned into (2) splitters for the dumpster. S-Techs plus huge splitter, plus deer carcass on the interstate in BAD weather= FAIL on my part. Being low looks cool until you run into one of these situations. Then you look like a dumbarse on the side of the highway picking up your mess.
I'd do like the above post stated. Jack it up and start the car. Feel for the leaks, they're easy to find. Pay close attention to the seams on the muffler itself, they are the weakest link.

Actually,
My tsudo started to leak a month or so back as well.
Went in to the shop a week ago and the weld was cracked just before the resonator. Had them weld it back up and put some torque solutions hangers on.

i hate to revive a dead thread but i think that is happening to me too now, it sounds like an exhaust leak, i have torque solution hanger and it sounds like its right before the resonators, sounds like something is loose, i hope its just that, if not I'm going to have a friend of mine just weld it up if its cracked, also giving off a smell now when running
