I've heard someone on this forum put in both the TWM short shifter AND the TRD quickshifter kit and the result was apparently amazing. I checked out the bushings that come with that TWM SS kit and am getting just those for now. (I'm also getting something similar to the TRD quickshifter). I can only hope my shifts will feel a bit nicer and more precise after I do all that lol.

Shifts are better now with the TWM bushings and the Quickshifter. Maybe I should get the TWM short shifter too...

O it's going to be short all right. but certain gears like 1st to 2nd do still need just a bit more shortening imo. The appeal of the TWM SS is that it positions the shifter further towards the front or something. it reduces the tendency to run your arm into the center console bin while shifting into 2nd 4th and 6th. At least I think thats what they said in their product video.

I'll try to go find that one post I read about the guy who installed both things on his car. Me personally, I just have the quickshifter and the TWM SS bushings. You can either go that route or you can get the TWM SS kit (including the full bushing kit with cable and base bushings.) either one of those options is good.

I am running a TWM SS right now, and its great...I actually think its shorter. I could be just imagining but im pretty sure its a bit shorter. If I could get in a stock tc and mine I bet you could tell the difference right away. It is a bit pricy but I think it was worth it. I use to miss 5th gear sometimes cuz it was so far away but it don't get that anymore...so I hope that helps good luck.

If you think you will have problems, then just choose one option or the other. the end result is better shifting either way. you will not be disappointed. TWM is more expensive but better. The quickshifter+bushings route is cheaper (especially if you don't get TRD but get the supertek short shifter instead) and is probably only slightly below the performance of the TWM.

That link is difficult to find sorry haha. I think it was in one of our forum's "TRD quickshifter" threads though.

I did it! It's really short but very tight. It's amazing there is maybe an inch of travel from 3rd to 4th. It's great!

One inch?!?! That sounds so short. Can you even feel it going into gear?

The TWM Short Shifter coupled with the TRD Quick-shift makes for an epic combo! It's probably the shortest shifter kit possible for your 2nd Gen tCs ;)

and definitely get the bushings, they make it feel so much tighter, no more slop.
Damn, now I gotta buy the quickshifter to couple with my TWM short shifter ;-)

do you know how heavy it is? could you give us a weight in grams so that we can compare with other products? or just weigh it in ounces then convert to grams. thanks!

The Big Type R weighs in at a hefty 600 grams! A force to be reckoned with.

Haha not at all! With our short shifter it feels smooth and composed, yet still retains that high quality mechanical feel. It's a unique feel that you can only experience when you couple a short shifter to a weighted ****, and we believe we come quite close to perfecting the balance between the two ;)
