Heat Shield, Header Wrap, and engine bay cooling
 

Hi folks,

Ever since installing the excellent Ptuning turbo kit my engine bay's been running warmer than usual, to the point where I definitely want to do something to bring the situation under wraps by next Spring. The directly-exposed metal of the headers radiates heat into my engine bay, warming it up and sapping a tiny bit of power as well (that's the theory, anyway). Even that doesn't really concern me though, the car's powerful enough now, it's more about doing things right.

What's the best way of taking care of this, and if that's impractical, then what's the practical way?

Heat wrap on the header isn't a bad idea. They do also sell heat shields that cover the turbo. Both products should help. Turbos generate a LOT of heat. The header wrap will be difficult to do with the header on but it is possible. Obviously I recommend you do the wrap after the car has been sitting for a long time. Wouldn't want you to get burned after all.

Vented hood.

Ceramic coat your Exhaust Manifold. It'll stop all that heat from radiating all over your engine bay. A vented hood would also help

DEI Titanium Heat Wrap and turbo blanket. It's what I use. The ambient temperature is noticeably cooler.

Dei header wrap and turbo blanket will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce temps. Wrap your downpipe as well.

That is the same end result as wrapping. It MAY yield higher heat reduction as a whole compared to wrap, but will cost more $ in doing so.

heat wrap/ceramic coat and vented hood FTW :) when i got a vented hood for my Spec V, it helped alot with the ProCharger and just heat in general in the engine bay
