[tC 2016] GPS, Pioneer System, Back up camera questions
Hi !
Just got myself a 2016 tC. I didn't get the GPS add-on because I feel like it's a rip off. Is there anything that I can buy and install myself to have an integrated GPS? Sort of like as if I bought the GPS add-on?
Are there any mods for the Pioneer radio system? software or hardware mods? Maybe changing the OS or something?
And my last question is the back up camera. Have anyone successfully install a back up camera in a 2016 tC yet?
Thanks for any information!

I just ripped out the factory radio in my 2011 and replaced with a touch screen stereo from Pioneer, with the optional GPS add-on.
Before:
During:
After:
Gotta have my in-dash navigation!
Piece of cake and well worth the money. You need to be able to read and follow instructions though ;)
Parts used:
Pioneer AVH-X2700BS. $220
Pioneer U260. $290
Metra wiring adapter and dash kit: Metra 95-8202 + 70-1761. $11.65
USB and aux-in adapter. Axxess AX-USB-35EXT. $9.99
Tools used: Leatherman, screwdriver, socket set.
Instructions how to rip your dash apart:

Options I didn't get: backup camera and SirusXM receiver, although they are available for this head unit.
Still waiting on the adapter for the steering wheel controls, so I'll have to rip into the dash again once it comes in the mail. (METRA AXXESS ASWC-1, $46) But I couldn't stand the factory radio one day longer ;)
And tonight I'm going to find just the right kind of orange for the illuminated buttons :D

I am certain the dimensions of the radio in the '16 are the same. Height I know for sure, and width is probably 200 mm, in which case, yes, all the same parts.
NOTE! If you want to keep the steering wheel controls operational using the aforementioned METRA AXXESS ASWC-1, also get the Metra 70-8114 "optional" harness. That will make connecting the former 5,000% easier. Found that out last night ;)
