Default Amp remote please help

Hey, I'm new to the forum and could use some assistance. Ive done some searching on amp/ sub installation and am having trouble figuring out which wire to use as remote. Ive tried both the white and yellow on the ten pin harness. White doesnt turn on, and yellow wont turn off. Can someone give me a hand? I dont have a tester andd hand and dont have the money to buy one this week. Btw I have a cement Tc2 and that ____ is pimp haha.

can you look at a wiring diagram of the amp you bought> it should have came with one. also posting a pic of the wires comming out of the amp would help. on my sub the remote wire was blue not white or yellow.

Hey thanks for the responses. I am using the stock headunit and according to the sticky for wiring I tried splicing into the white, stock amp remote wire and got nothing. When I tried the yellow "radio ignition" wire the amp turned on, but when I shut the car off the amp did not shut down. Now I am wondering if I should go through the minor trouble of using an in-line switch and finding a place for it or if there actually is a good spot to tap into that will shut down after I shut off the radio.

Yes, I was refering to where on the stock wiring harness I should tap into for power. There is a plug that has ten slots and has all solid color wire coming out. On a few threads people mentioned using the white or yellow wires and seemed to have no problems.

It is my old amp setup with the regular blue remote.

im sorry i didnt read any of the post so far but behind the radio, there should be a wire that is blue with a white stripe or even just a solid red wire. either of those two wires should do the trick.

Do you, by chance, have a 2012? I'm thinking the wire colors used between 2011 and 2012 are different, because I had the same issue as you. The white wire only outputs 6.2V switched (not enough to turn the amp on), and the yellow wire outputs constant 12V.

Try the red wire. It's 12V switched on my car and what I used for the remote.

I know this is a bit late but I figured I should confirm incase someone comes across this in a search.. The red wire is the wire to use in the 2012 tc. And thanks jiggavolt for responding, even though it was a bit belated haha.

No problem, I just finished my own installation yesterday. Hopefully this post will help other 2012 owners in the future!

So is this the same wire for the 2011? Also, I saw on YouTube where someone tapped into the grey wire that feeds the 12v receptacle down behind the shifter, is that acceptable too?

Any wire that turns on and off with the car is acceptable. The solid yellow wire is constant 12v power so it is not. The red wire on this harness works fine.

Just looking for some clarification on the right wire to use for the remote amp turn-on on the factory harness on the 2011 tC. (Did it change on the 2012's? I assumed they were identical.)
I see 3 other threads that reference different things so I'm trying to find a definite answer on this:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214019&highlight=amp+remote
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=212027&highlight=amp+remote

Sooo is it the red wire (pin 8 - power antenna) or the white wire (pin 9 - woofer amp) on the 10 pin power harness? Or do they both work? Sorry to be a PITA but I’m in the middle of an install and would like to get it right the first time. Thanks in advance!

Red dude. And use those quick crimp connectors so if it is wrong or you wanna change it in the future you just remove it and tape over the break in the sheathing.

Thanks mkeple. I thought I'd include a pic for future reference in case anyone else is confused on which wire to use for the remote amp on the factory harness.

I used the yellow wire that runs to the cigarette lighter as my remote. Works perfect.
