Tail lights flickering, dashboard lights on and off, license plate light on and off...all with no key in the ignition.

I suspect it's because I recently charged the battery with one of those slow chargers and messed up the connector order (red first, black second - black first, red second)

Am I on the money??

 

Unless you connected the leads incorrectly, black to red and red to black, I highly doubt you did anything with the slow charger. Have you tried disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for 30 minutes and then re-connecting it?
