Well, I just spent most of the day installing the wires for an amp to power a 10" sub. I have power to the amp, but it does not make bass. I did dbl check the preout connection on the deck and the settings on the amp. Is there something im missing? I checked the HU settings for a sub or something, nothing. In canada, we get the crappy low end one from 2013 btw.

Remote wire spliced in? With the stock deck turned off, hold the volume **** for a few seconds. It will bring up a menu that allows you to enable the SW preout.

Make sure all the cable are plugged in correctly and double check the radio cable. When I hooked up my amp and sub, I placed my radio cable in the wrong slot and corrected it, and boom, everything was working.

thanks for the responses, pfdumigan nailed my prob. I didnt know you had to turn on the preouts!

Is the preout connection like an adapter to run AUX cables to the amp? I have a 2013 tc with a base headunit it has red and while AUX connections in the back but looking at a 2014 it does not have these connections. so does the preout connector plug into one of the ports on the rear of the 2014 headunit? thanks for the help..

Yes, they are pre-outs that are use for the sub. You will have to activate the pre-outs by turning off the headunit, then press and hold the power button (or may be the volume button) until the main menu appears and turn on sub control.

Have you made this purchase yet? My understanding of the 2014 base H/U is that it is the same one that was used in the Anniversary edition, which does not have a subwoofer out. You can add additional inputs through plugs on the back, but not outputs.
Does anyone have the pinout for the steering wheel control plug on this H/U? I have a thread going but no replies yet. Someone must have it.

I'm waiting on a Clarion nx702 to be installed. Dealer is doing the install and they say it works with the wheel controls etc...

I would go aftermarket rather than 2014 touchscreen. My unit has nav and cost less than the nav upgrade for scion HUs.
