USB and Aux connection

Anyone with an aftermarket headunit tap into the stock connections to get them to work? As of now, mine aren't functioning because i have to use the ones that come directly out from the radio. I have to hook my ipod up to a cable that is in my glovebox.

You could use some of these el cheapo connectors so that when/if you put the old HU back on you could just tape up the harness and not worry. I'm using them for my line output converter for my sub.

scionchicop, I just got my new head unit installed and I'm going to be tackling the objects of your question today. I know one guy was able to do the usb but he didn't do the aux cuz he didn't need it. I looked at the harness today and the aux input has five wires coming from it. I'm goin to go buy an aux cable and cut it open. I'm hoping it'll have five wires. If it does then it'll be easy. If not, I don't know how we can get it to work.

The aux input and usb are on the same connector. There should only be 6 wires in total.

yes but the usb side has one big cable coming from it and the aux side has 5 wires coming from it

but you dont want to touch it down there. you want to splice into the top of the harness.

Well i had already cut off the harness at the bottom to splice everything in so I had to make it work. The first try I only had audio on the right side. I just got done redoing it and changing a few connections and everything seems to be working great. Just hope everything will be reliable and won't screw something up. I'm a bit paranoid about stuff like that.
