Hi, I used to have a Yaris and looking to get a used 2011 Scion tC. I was wondering what is the road noise like?
My Yaris had pretty much no sound insulation, I had to turn up the radio every time on the freeway.

Is the tC the same? I heard ride quality is a lot better though.

Its better but its no Cadillac.
I still have only found one Bluetooth that people can actually hear me on when I'm on the freeway so the road noise is still there.

It's an entry level car so just keep that in mind.

Depends on tires, and road construction. I consider it pretty loud, but you can just test drive it.

I got my used 2011 Scion tC about 3 months ago. The road noise is slightly more abundant in the back, but still tolerable. All in all, the sound deadening is leaps and bounds beyond the Yaris.

It's important to recognize that it's sports car, and not a luxury car. So there will always be SOME road noise, depending on road surface, payload, road surface, etc.

It's not a sports car since it has a Camry drivetrain. It's an economy car that gives some of the look of a sports car.

Road noise is fine with the stock 18" Toyo Proxes A20 tires. A few months back, I upgraded to the TRD 19" wheels that came with Toyo Proxes4 tires and they are LOUD. So loud it sounds like my wheel bearings are going bad. I've gotten used to it, but still notice it.

Bottom line, if you switch from the stock 18" tires, do research and make sure you get good quality quiet tires. You'll be fine.

The sound deadening inside is average. It is a budget car. But road noise is usually more determined by the choice of tires.

Read reviews when choosing tires. Performance tires tend to be noisier and offer shorter tread life for better lateral grip and usually wet weather performance, believe it or not. All season tires are so so at all conditions (dry, rain, snow, dirt) but never great in any one condition. Choose a tire that best suits your driving style, wear needs, driving environment, and in this case, comfort level.

It is a relatively quiet ride. I had a Camry before and a first generation Mazda3, the tC is only a bit louder than the Camry, and much quieter than the Mazda3. I've taken a few long road trips and never felt the car was Loud. Running Toyo Proxies A20.

I completely eliminated 80% of road noise in my car a year or two ago. Dig up my old thread.

A combination of stripping entire car apart, Putting stinger roadkill then putting ensolite ontop worked well. Also, when I got to ohio I put a rust protection coating on bottom of car, however I paid a little extra and they layered it in parts where sound resonates. Car is great now, can talk and everything on high way speeds with music. Took some effort however

lol Man. We must have decent roads here in PA because I've always been able to talk on the phone etc. on the highway with my tC.
